'Saint No Worries'
2130 and 2088 so far.
Overall Rank: 40,996 (aiming for top 5,000)
DEFENCE
Jarrad McVeigh: 2 and 97. Rd 1 was a concern, bust just a down game. Proved his class in Rd 2.
Sam Mitchell: Like McVeigh, Rd1 was a worry and now the withdrawal. If he’s not out for next week, he stays in my side, no worries about that.
Shannon Hurn: Love this guy. 99 in Rd1. 7 this week due to injury. Will keep unless injury is serious.
Matthew Broadbent: 45 from a quarter as sub and 75 yesterday. Less midfield time than I hoped; additions of Polec and White hurt that. After being sub once that’s in back of my mind. Gave him a chance and steered away from Swallow. Time to correct the mistake.
Matt Suckling: 74 and 72. Showed some class kicking on Friday. He gets held because of his price. At those scores he will need to be traded eventually. Stays… But hopefully he picks up a bit.
Luke McDonald: Kept him on the field despite his 48 last week. Repaid us all with a 96. Tick.
Alexis Georgiou: 64 x 2… Great cover, and will be emergency if he can keep those sores up. 102k is the bonus there too. Hope people took a punt on him.
Clay Cameron: Not many were speaking of this guy and took the likes of Clurey/Laidler rather than Georgiou and Cameron. Scored 50 and 52. Won’t be EMG for my DEF at those scores, but will make cash if his job security is ok.
MIDFIELD
Gary Ablett: 140 and 121. Pendlebury probably looking the better option but it’s only two rounds and GAJ’s scores have been good anyway. Can we knight him yet? Sir Gary Ablett Junior.
Jobe Watson: 157 and 113. Great value for 601k. Tick.
Josh Kennedy: Took a punt on a guy who averaged 119 two years ago. 91 was a bit low, even for someone worth 560k. But the Swans weren’t great last week and he bounced back with 109 in Rd2. Thumbs up.
Dayne Beams: 136 and 115. Don’t need to say anymore.
Dale Thomas: Rd1 was yuck. Rd2 was a yuck start. Showed his ability as the game went on. Might just be taking a while to settle into his new team. 92 points and he was no-where near a standout says it all for me. Would like more midfield time from him though. Stays for now.
Jared Polec: 107 and 99. Didn’t have him originally. Glad I got him.
Xavier Ellis: 66 last week nearly pushed him to my bench. Glad I didn’t. 98 was quality. Tick.
Luke Dunstan: Man-Child. Hard and composed. 100 then 64. Great value for 132k. I love the way in Rd 2 he had trouble getting the pill so he threw kept himself in the game by bumping and tackling. Mature beyond his years.
Tom Langdon: I have him in the midfield to make a DPP link. Was guttered when he got 111 on my bench in Rd 1. Quieter in Rd 2 with 56. Great bench cover for now.
Lewis Taylor: Last minute change from Crouch to Taylor which was risky. Scored 6 as sub in Rd1. Glad he got a start in Rd 2 and found the ball about 20 times, scoring 64. Showed his scoring ability and good DPP link with Fwds.
RUCKS (My pride and joy)
Shane Mumford: Took a risk with him… He was in 7% of sides but that will go up after 132 and 158. Might buy him some snag for his early output.
Aaron Sandilands: Chances are that you have him so I don’t need to write anything. Big thumbs up for the big fella.
Fraser Thurlow: Stuck with him for DPP link with Dixon to cover any issues that Sandi may come across. Ryder injury might give him a chance anyway.
Daniel Currie: At this spot I just picked rookie ruck I thought most likely to play 3 games and make money. Debuted in Rd2 and looked alright.
FORWARDS
Patrick Dangerfield: Form is temporary, class is permanent. If you don’t have him, he’ll probably be cheaper in a few weeks. If you have him don’t trade him; you’ll regret it.
Dustin Martin: Showing his ability and hasn’t really started poorly or faded out so far. Tick.
Charlie Dixon: 22 after being concussed in Rd 1 and Rd 2 he produced a 68 in not great conditions for big men. Did kick 0.2 and if that was 2.0 he would’ve had a half-decent score. DPP is useful and I will give him a chance.
Luke Parker: Averaging 91. Doing his job as F4 so far.
Shaun Higgins: His price will rise. 68 and 69 aren’t what I’d hope for every week at 258k. Spot is under pressure.
Gary Rohan: Rd 1 score we underwhelming and Rd 2 he was injured. I would happily stick him on the bench, but 170k is too much cash on the pine and his scores aren’t onfield quality. May be traded to accommodate Dom Tyson.
Jarman Impey: 56 & 46. Proving to be my weekly FWD emergency and good bench cover at this stage. Will make valuable cash.
Jay Kennedy-Harris: Sub twice has hurt his fantasy output. Hopefully he isn’t sub next week because after two scores in the 20s his breakeven is +14. Need him to make cash. Good F8 if he isn’t sub much more.
ON THE BLOCK
Matthew Broadbent, Shaun Higgins, Gary Rohan, Charlie Dixon (not so much).
GETTING
David Swallow: Went Broadbent instead, who now lacks mid time and is a sub risk. While Swallow (who I still thought would do well) has exceeded probably mine and everyone else’s expectations.
TRYING TO GET
Dom Tyson: It will be hard for me to fit him in. I left him out because of his price but he has racked up 62 touches in 2 games and plenty of marks. Nothing wrong with my rookie mids but I’d love him in somehow.
ON MY MIND
Matt Thomas, Patrick Ambrose, Nick Riewoldt.
LIKELY MOVES
#1: Broadbent to Swallow as a corrective trade (can’t afford Rohan to Tyson though).
#2: Higgins to Tyson via Lewis Taylor to forward line. This mean Rohan AND Taylor on field up forward which worries me. And then I have to bench either Dunstan or Ellis.
#3: Hurn or Mitchell may be out injured, but could mean holding Broadbent, and going Hurn/Mitchell to Swallow, which allows me to keep Higgins and trade Rohan to Tyson and send Lewis Taylor to F6. This is my ideal scenario but not something I will do unless Hurn or Mitchell are out injured. Would be a forced trade but I won’t complain.
#4: Thought about Thomas to Tyson… and I am still thinking about this. Broadbent to Swallow, Thomas to Tyson. Gives me over 100k spare and could even upgrade Rohan or Higgins (or both) in the near future. Not ideal with Thomas starting to improve; but plausible.
