From Round 11 I will be finding the best PODs I can, considering all things such as the amount of sides the players are in, their averages and their prices. I mentioned a bunch of PODS in the preseason so I may be going back over some of them again, but some of the players I may come across will possibly be new to my radar. I'm trying to stick with players that are in around 5% of sides or below this year. Enjoy.
Nathan Jones (MELB)
WHY?
As I suggested in the preseason, I expected Jones - who had never averaged over 98 in his career - to lift his average with the abundance of midfielders recruited into The Demons side: Vince, Cross and Tyson all first choice midfielders, while Riley, Michie and Salem were always going to be in and out. Jones is no longer an A grade midfielder running around with only C and D graders as support. He is now an A grade midfielder with other A graders, or at least B graders, running around with him. This has seen his average lift from 90 (last year) to 108 this year after 9 games. He was actually under $500,000 at the beginning of the year, but I guarantee $520,700 is nowhere near overs for him. I'd actually suggest that he is still undervalued at that price.
HIS SCORING...
Like a lot of PODs his scoring looks little up and down, which is the reason that some people are turned off to begin with. His lowest score was a 60 against GWS; a close game in which he didn't touch the ball in the last quarter. On the flipside, he scored an 81 from only 14 disposals against Adelaide. In that game he laid 7 tackles and showed the leadership he's known for by staying involved in the game. But outside of that he has scored 142, 95, 132, 140, 122, 81, 90 & 114. I doubt the 80s and 90s will cost you a league win, but the 120s, 130s & 140s are definitely the scores that will give your side a bit of x-factor on occasions.
NEXT 5....
Over the next 5 rounds he faces Port Adelaide, Collingwood, Essendon, North Melbourne and Western Bulldogs. His projected score is over 110 for each of these opponents and while they've not been his favourite teams to play against (barring North) his highest scores against each have been 114, 114, 130, 156, 111.

IF....
....you've got no limit to the cash you can spend then I would be grabbing Josh P. Kennedy from Sydney. He's $642,900 after rising 74k this year, but he is averaging almost 124 points, which sits him behind only Ablett and Pendlebury. He's in 5.51% of teams so not as much of a POD as Jones but a better buy if you have the extra cash.
....you're after someone really different then I would pick up Richard Douglas. I went through the players in the least amount of teams and Douglas popped up as being selected in a mind boggling 0.20%. Not bad for a guy who is only priced at $500,900 and is averaging a touch under 100. Don't let that fool you though, it's because he's only played 6 games (due to a late start through injury and then a suspension Rd6-7) and had a 69 thrown in there. Other scores have been 117, 98, 93, 110 & 111.
