BEST FIRST YEAR PLAYER:
Nick Vlastuin – DEF/MID – 1277 points @ 75
Vlastuin burst onto the scene in his 3rd game which was RND7 scoring 105 Supercoach points. Like most players, he enjoyed another massive score the following week against the Demons posting 141. Unfortunately after that, he only cracked the tonne one more time RND10 against WCE. Nick had a brilliant 1st year and quickly established himself as a required player with 9 straight appearances and a total of 18 games.
MOST IMPROVED:
Daniel Jackson – MID – 2036 points @ 92
Richmond’s deserving B&F medal winner this year was also their most improved player in Supercoach. You could argue Dustin Martin, who improved his average from 89 to 101 this year as ‘most improved’, however 2 years ago he averaged 99. Daniel Jackson has improved his average from 71 in 2012 up to 92 this year and has played a crucial midfield role in what can only be described as ‘tame’ years for the likes of Cotchin and Deledio. Jacko saved his best performance for last, in R23 against the Bombers he dished out 143 Supercoach points and increased by more than $110,000.

BEST BUY:
Brandon Ellis – DEF – 1633 points @ 81
If I had known that $300K was going to ensure an average of 81 points at the start of the year I would’ve picked Brandon Ellis from the get-go. Without any surprise, Cotchin, Deledio and Martin were the 3 highest scorers for the team this year, they certainly shouldn’t be labeled as the ‘best buy’ of the team, because teammate and 2nd year player Brandon Ellis topped 100 on 7 occasions with his highest score reaching 149 in RND8 against the Dees, helping his team transition between defense to attack with Houli. His price increased by more than $136,000 this year alone and the 81 average is modest as he was unfortunately given the green vest a few times earlier in the year.
WORST BUY:
Nathan Foley – MID – 1145 points @ 71
Foley was again troubled with injury early on in the season and didn’t play his first game until R7. He only scored over 100 in 2 games (scoring 103 and 110 respectively). His priced dropped by more than $160K by the end of the year. A lot of commentators in the Supercoach world had warned the best footy was behind him and they were right. A great player for the Tigers, but while this hard nut puts up a good fight, his scores have plummeted and so has his consistency rating. Steer clear in 2014 coaches!
2014 PROSPECTS:
Alex Rance: This bloke has gone to battle without many of his teammates able to help him out in the air against bigger and stronger opponents, however he gets the job done consistently and wins many of his own battled. Plus, his coach loves him. For a full back, Alex Rance finds plenty of the ball and is quick to cleanly dispose of it, too. He’s a consistent performer for your 2014 back-line.
Chris Knights: Coming across from the Crows, he was set to be a big part of the Tigers forward structure until he dislocated his kneecap in RND7 against the Power. Ironically, the injury took place on his old stomping ground. Expect him to return and average around 80 points for the year.
MOST PROLIFIC:
1) Brett Deledio – MID – 2279 @ 103
2) Dustin Martin - FWD/MID - 2240 @ 102
3) Trent Cotchin – MID – 2227 @ 106
4) Daniel Jackson - MID - 2036 @ 93
5) Alex Rance – DEF – 1918 @ 87
6) Ivan Maric – RUC – 1841 @ 96 (top ruckman)
