We've past the pointy end of the season and we're just about at the tip!
That's right. It's Supercoach PRELIM FINALS time and if you've played your cards right; you may have 1-3 trades left? Speaking of cards, the question on a lot of Supercoach's lips is...do I HOLD'EM or FOLD'EM? Which player is worth keeping in the team for the last 2 games and who could I do without and consider trading?
Trades at this time of the season are HUGE; you'd only consider burning a trade going into a pre-lim if you've got a premium player injured (sideways trade), you need to 'cash-in' on your last cash cow, or, you are looking for a point of difference. Choose wisely, as you can't afford to stuff this on up.
SCHQ is now even more interactive and I’m here to help! Send your tweets to @Ro0STA from today through to the opening bounce on Friday night and I'll do my best to respond and help you with your HOLD'EM/FOLD'EM dilemma! Use #holdfold. It would be handy to know your bankroll and number of trades left so I can help you make the best decision. Here's a couple of guys owned by a large number of teams:
Tom Mitchell (SYD MID $397,600. Owned by 41.3% teams) - HOLD'EM
He's a cash cow you should've shown the door to about 3 weeks ago when he was $431,600 and upgraded to a premium. If you still have him; HOLD because now he's lost value and been dropped; a senior recall IS a possibility this weekend. Tippett was subbed with a tight hammy meaning Pyke, Mummy and White will share more time in the FWD line.

If Lamb & Rohan can hold their spots, I think Mitchell would be at the top of the list for the INS. If he doesn't get a recall and your 8th MID spot needs some "filling" then use any extra cash & upgrade to Priddis or Wells, or even sideways to Marc Murphy who should find a lot more of the ball with Juddy out. After all this kid may just come in the WEEK after and score 102 for you, it's the risk/reward you must weigh up!
Tom Nicholls (GCS RUC $401,900). Owned by 20.9% teams) - FOLD'EM
With a break-even of 125 and a projected score in the 80's, he's set to lose you MORE cash. Besides, a Ruckman nursing a sore knee is always bad news. If you are/were relying on him to finish off your season in style as the "Johnny Giles of 2013", he's now worn out his welcome. Use cash to trade for Mumford. Leuenberger rolled his ankle slightly last week, so probably avoid. He played out the game with it taped, but be wary. Failing that, there's not many good options if you low on the bucks. Maybe Zac Clarke? Never keep cash like Nicholls on your bench. If he comes back in; keep in
If you're SUPER LUCKY and have 3+ trades left, you might consider using 2 of them this week; getting rid of, say, the 2nd bench player in FWD/DEF who may be holding $150-200K that you could use to trade down to a 96K rookie and use the cash elsewhere for the 2nd trade to grab yourself a nice premium. This is really the only time of the year sideways trading isn't really frowned upon; as you are always looking for PODs.
Cheers

Who is RoOSTA - Why should I take advice of this mong?
Like the rest of the Supercoach HQ team, I'm an avid Supercoach myself. I've played for 4 years in my own private league with a highly competitive bunch of people. To give you an idea of HOW competitive my league was - with 2 rounds to go this year; my top spot on the ladder was up for grabs with 2nd through to 9th spot separated by just 1 game and percentage! Yup. Guys like Shane Crawford weren’t even good enough to make it into the top 8 in my league.
I've made the finals every year and secured a top 4 finish 2 of 4 times. Last year, playing in some mates leagues, I won a grand final (top 8) and was runners-up (lost grand final) in a 3rd league. Suffice to say, I know what it takes to get a DECENT high score; maintain consistency and to secure some awesome points of difference. Taking out the 3 bye-round scores his year, I've averaged 2170. It's a score that won't come close to earning me a Nissan in my driveway, but it's a consistent average o help me notch up 13 wins this year and finish 2nd.
I'm into a preliminary myself and have TWO trades left.
