Round five was a relatively tough one for fantasy coaches as the par score dropped from somewhere near 800 to around 600.
As I predicted in last week’s Preview, Michael Lumb smacked 149 across the Sixers’ two games. Also good for the Magenta Men were Moises Henriques (113 points) & Josh Hazlewood (100). Nic Maddinson backfired with a score of -11 across the two rounds. Hope you didn’t have him captain!
A notable mention goes to former Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan who came in to replace Johan Botha for the Strikers, and scored 126 with runs and wickets.
This round the Scorchers play twice and the Renegades don’t play at all. That means big boy Finch should be traded (ODIs coming up too) and Muralidaran and Rimmington benched.

Team News
As mentioned, how good was the little fella from the ‘Deshi Tigers, Al Hasan? I won’t be jumping on him though, he’s likely to only play one more game before Johan Botha returns from a broken thumb.
Ajantha Mendis is now available for selection for the Thunder, as the Green Machine bid farwell to Eoin Morgan.
It’s an English straight swap at the Sixers, with Chris Tremlett replacing Ravi Bopara, who joins the England ODI squad. So does Renegade Jos Buttler, but the availability of Aaron Finch remains up in the air, subject to Cricket Australia’s wishes.

@dkou84 We are hopeful of having Finch, Patto and Sidds with us for the next game (Jan 14). The Aussies have a 5 day break from ODIs.

As the fifth Ashes test is meant to still be going, there has been no word on when Australian ODI players will be required to leave their franchises and join the squad. Seems like you’ll get one more week out of them.
Captaincy Corner
Firstly, it’s best to look at the double round side – the Scorchers. As Perth hasn’t had any fantasy standouts it’s hard to ignore their leading point scorer, Mitchell Marsh. He’s averaging 65 points per game, which would be a good result. The other guys I’d look at are brother Shaun Marsh and Nathan Coulter-Nile, but there’s too much uncertainty regarding their availability for the second fixture for the round, against the Sixers. Brad Hogg is the other, who has taken five wickets this series and averages 46 at #theFurnace. My crystal ball this week says that Alfonso Thomas is about to spring back into form.
The best of the rest includes Stars’ Glenn Maxwell (averaging 82) and the Heat’s Ben Cutting (averaging 63). Surely Cutts gets a promotion this week?

Trade Table
Now is the perfect time to get Sixers & Hurricanes players into your fantasy side. They’ve both completed their byes so have a smooth run ahead. The positive for the Hurricanes is that their double round is still to come as well. A little forward planning never goes astray.
If you want to capitalise on Perth double this week, have a look at the guys I identified in the Captaincy Corner. Good luck for Round 5!
