Round five was an underwhelming round to say the least.
The big winners from the Scorchers’ double round were Simon Katich with 117 points, impressive quick Jason Behrendorff with 119 and the death specialist Yasir Arafat, with 152 points! Let me know if you had him captain, remarkable.
James Faulkner and Brett Lee were the other players to make it to the triple figure mark for the round, making it a round for the bowlers well and truly.
Immediately following their double round, the Scorchers have the bye this round, and so do the Adelaide Strikers. That means it’s a double-double-round with the Hurricanes and the Thunder both doubling up. Just a tip though – don’t go too heavy on the Thunder as they miss Round 7.

Team News
Given the Strikers have the bye this round; I think that’s the last we will see of Shakib Al Hasan. So for the 2.81% of teams that have him, trade him out now.
For the Thunder, Tillarkartne Dilshan has not recovered in time to face the Hurricanes tonight, which is a really kick in the pants given it’s their double round. Any hopes of a Luke Feldman return have been quashed as he’s been omitted from their squad.
The Melbourne Renegades have finally named their Jos Buttler replacement – West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. Don’t get too excited though, he won’t be debuting this round, he’ll kick off his comp in Round 7. No word yet on Peter Siddle’s availability but I think we might see him for the Jan 14 clash with the Thunder.
Test players Steve Smith and Nathan Lyon came back into the Sixers’ side without much of a fuss – Lyon is a really good option at only $36,000 if you need a bowler downgrade.

Captaincy Corner
I’ve got four words for you: Michael Edward Killeen Hussey. He’s certainly the standout option this round, given the Hurricanes aren’t offering much. Dirk Nannes has been bowling well but the rest of the Thunder squad, as we know, has been very inconsistent.
Someone like Travis Birt or Owais Shah might be worth a shot given their experience, or even their other international Shoaib Malik, who is just about to hit his straps.

Trade Table
Right, Aussie ODI players have to go. Perth Scorchers & Adelaide Strikers players should be the first to make way for Thunder or Hurricanes, naturally.
If you need a bowler, very hard to go past Jackson Bird and Ben Cutting at the moment. For someone cheaper, Jason Floros has the double round this week and Nathan Lyon is back in at basement price.
For a Mitch Marsh replacement, I’d recommend a Luke Wright or Dan Christian if you have the cash. If you’re feeling really brave, perhaps Hurricanes’ Shoaib Malik, but he hasn’t been tearing the game apart.
For the batsmen, you should be recruiting Mike Hussey, Travis Birt and Usman Khawaja, in that order.
