Do you want sauce with that? Here's the best junk from another intriguing week of A-League.
Stars
Sasa Ognenovski ($253k) DEF
One goal, one assist, two clean shots and 33 points in total; it’s been a hell of a start for Sasa. Not many would’ve forked out the $250k for him, but if you did, you have to be commended. He’s the number one defender for points and sitting fourth overall.
Marcelo Carrusca ($326k) MID
Carrusca has put a slowish start behind him with 22 points in the last two weeks. Given he’s on penalty duties makes him very tempting, and his spot kick on the weekend ensured the three points for United.
Nathan Burns ($296k) MID
Sure, he only returned four points on the weekend, but he’s been the competition’s best in points scored quite comfortably. With three goals and two assists already this season, if you’re not one of the 20% who have him, it’s time to seriously consider it.

Enigma
Mark Bridge ($251k) MID
Bridge hasn’t been scoring as he’s been away winning the Asian Champions League, but in the first two matches he averaged a WSW best of 8.
He’s got Wellington and Perth up next, and the WSW double round is approaching. Could be worth a punt.

Flops
Cheap defenders
It was a shocker for the boys down back: Daniel Georgeivski and Josh Risdon didn’t play, Iain Ramsay was dropped and Ryan McGowan (6 mins) and Tom Doyle (8 mins) both came on as late subs. These boys are going to have to lift their game, or changes (and our precious transfers) might have to be made.
Alejandro Rodriguez ($271k) MID.
It hasn’t been the start that the Pheonix would’ve been hoping for from their Spanish recruit, although Burns and McGlinchey have been extra impressive in the meantime. Rodriguez has only 13 points from the first four matches, and is yet to justify his price tag.
Youssouf Hersi ($298k) MID.
Hersi hasn’t hit the highs of his previous seasons, as predicted by Justin in the pre-season report card. Just 13 points from the first four matches, trade him if you have him in your midfield.
