Nothing worse than getting into round one of the season, thinking your side is perfect, only to learn that one of your players is suspended and won't be playing round one after all!
To help you avoid that happening, here are the players to leave out, for the first couple of rounds at least:
Brent Harvey (NM), 6 matches: It was highly controversial at the time, and Harvey's decision to challenge his striking charge on Daniel Kerr in the 2012 Elimination Final will certainly hurt the smallest man in football. It's a massive suspension, so a definite no for now.
James Kelly (Geel), 1 match: As the realisation hit Geelong in the third quarter of their Elimination Final against Fremantle, James Kelly hit Tendai Mzungu, and unfairly the MRP deemed. Kelly got a one-match ban for rough conduct but can come back round two. Still consider him at the back end for fantasy drafts.
Heath Scotland (Carl), 2 matches: This event wasn't during game play, but rather in a Club in southern NSW. The Blues decided to take action and imposed a two match ban on the evergreen defender.
Leigh Montagna (St.K), 1 match: Joey laid a heavy hit on Carlton's Andrew Walker in round 23 last season in what would prove to be St.Kilda's final game. Like Kelly, he's back for round two, so a possible draft steal.
Campbell Brown (GC), 6 matches: If you're considering this guy, then your team has serious trouble. Maybe we could help you out here. He received six weeks for striking Adelaide's Aidan Riley.
Kurt Tippett (Syd), 11 matches: And of course, Tippo. After misleading and accepting certain things and certain people, Tippett is out for eleven matches of the home and away season, and then Sydney have the round 12 bye. So it will be at least round 13 before we see him. Start considering him around round 11 in draft leagues to get him for nothing for the waivers.
