There's a few things to get through this week, and we begin with the trades equation.
How many trades should you have left?
It depends how far completed your side is, of course. If you are happy with your team, somewhere between 3-5 is certainly acceptable, because you will get injured players, suspended players and rested players, you can count on it. With this many, it leaves you with a the opportunity to upgrade a player or two as well.
If you've got 6 or more trades left, then you'd better get trading, because nothing is certain in SuperCoach, and it would be a shame to have trades left over at the end of the year.
If you have 1 or 2, then use them, especially if you're in a knock-out final, to bolster your squad one final time. If you've got the double chance by finishing from 1-4, then certainly hang onto those trades and re-assess next week!
How about Scott McMahon on the weekend? He was once a reliable defender but has been recently swapping roles left right and centre, so his 183 was certainly a pleasant surprise for the 3,500 Coaches that have him (less than one percent!).
Also the ruck issue is a big one. In years gone by ruckman have been easy to pick as they often shared the workload with a fellow ruckman, meaning less strain and less chance of injury. These days though, most teams only play one ruckman and its been harder to hang onto the same two than ever before. Heading into the finals my tip would be to have two gun ruckman ready to go so you don't have to worry about your ruck department. Or you could wait a week and grab Todd Goldstein, which is a very good idea.
A quick Shout-Out to Jeremy Taylor of the Gold Coast Suns who could be your defender down-grade savior! Comisirations to Adam Goodes after missing that shot, and all those who are dreaming of SuperCoach Glory!
