It had be a disastrous couple of months for Fremantle’s Zac Clarke.
A poor SuperCoach season was briefly consoled as an impressive Dockers’ outfit powered towards the AFL Grand Final. But as if a defeat on the last Saturday in September wasn’t enough, Clarke then injured his knee quite badly at the Falls Music Festival on New Years’ day.
Yet his approach to 2014 seems very positive and full of optimism. I was lucky enough to ask him a few questions to try and eek out some inside-information.
SCHQ: Firstly thanks for your time. 1. How did you spend time from October to New Year?

SCHQ: Firstly thanks for your time. 1. How did you spend time from October to New Year?
ZC: The week after the grand final I headed overseas to Los Angeles I ended up spending 6 weeks there traveling around the country, I visited LA, San Fran, Vegas, Arizona, New Orleans, Miami and New York. I then spent a few weeks back home in Melbourne catching up with family and friends before training started in early december.
SCHQ: How are the Dockers shaping up this year? Who's been burning up the pre-season?
ZC: Yeah we have had a tough pre season as I'm sure every club has, plenty of young players have really impressed such as Hayden Crozier, Tom Sheridan, recent draftee Alex Pearce and older players like Pav, McPharlin and Sandilands have completed nearly every session.
SCHQ: How has your own form been tracking? Will you be right for Round 1?
ZC: I obviously have had the knee injury to grab since New Years, so been spending my time in the gym but I've started running now and have got a couple of weeks to get the running volume into my legs before the season starts.
SCHQ: How's your SuperCoach side shaping up? Have you picked yourself?
ZC: I've only just started thinking about my SuperCoach this year after a disappointing year last year. I’ve got a few smokies I'm considering, I haven't seen my price yet but I generally do squeeze myself in! haha
SCHQ: Can you tell us how your partner in crime Aaron Sandilands is coming along?
ZC: Aaron has had a solid uninterrupted pre season which has been great to see, as I said before he hasn't missed a beat since Xmas, and has been training very well so that should continue over the NAB cup.
Thanks for your time mate.
