As for last week’s top scorers, Shannon Hurn delivered 157 SC points with some heroics in the Eagles nail biting win over the Suns. Brendon Goddard also produced 157 despite the Bombers going down in heart breaking fashion. Fellow Bomber David Zaharakis (154) has rediscovered his best form, as has Jimmy Bartel (152), while Lynden Dunn (149) was best afield against Essendon and is another successful rejuvenated Roos prodigy.
Here are my captaincy selections for round 14!
Lance Franklin
Buddy is the talk of the town, they say he’s either on the front page or the back page, this week he has been everywhere after a sensational second half performance to single handily drag the Swans over the line – now that’s worth paying big money for. A confident and in form Lance Franklin is one of the best sights in AFL and Friday night is the perfect stage for Buddy.
Patrick Dangerfield
The Adelaide superstar has had a lean month of SuperCoach scores, but it’s rare for Dangerfield to not hit the ton for such an amount of time, I’d back him in to have a big one Saturday night. The Bombers are struggling on and off the field; I think Dangerfield may well add salt to the wounds with a big match!
Tom Liberatore
Libba was outstanding last week. 34 touches, 23 contested 10 tackles and 13 clearances – unbelievable numbers. His composure and cleanness with ball in hand, inparticluar in the last quarter were superb, he racked up 142 SC points in the process and must be considered this week.
Kieren Jack
Jack was dominant last year against the Tigers, racking up 146 SC points and the three Brownlow votes. He is yet to reach the absolute height of his scoring potential this year while being extremely consistent - A smoky for the captaincy loophole.
Ablett vs Pendlebury
Ablett
Past 5 vs Geelong – 129, 110, 106,
Ablett is yet to tear his former side apart, despite delivering miraculous snaps from the boundary. I’d be putting the C on him once again, his form hasn’t been electric of late but expect him to lift for Geelong in what is a big match for the Suns.
Pendlebury
Past 5 vs Hawthorn – 110, 124, 105, 127, 167
Outstanding last week, a delight to have in your side. Pendlebury is such a consistent performer, safe as houses.
