SuperCoach is all about the numbers and stats our game creates, the most important numbers throughout this column this year have generally been Gary Ablett’s and Scott Pendlebury’s. Of course Gaz is now out for the season which makes Pendles all the more important – if not the most important in the fantasy game.
Upon checking his stats today, one number struck me. He is owned by 58% of coach – 58%! We can look at this two ways, either something is wrong with my computer or the updates of SuperCoach themselves or the far more likely ... 42% of SuperCoach’s don’t take the game serious enough!
Here are my captaincy selections for this week!
Patrick Dangerfield
A great POD skipper for this weekend ... I hear you all quickly say Macaffer? Well if this year is anything to go buy Dangerfield will be far from ‘hand caffed’ this week. He destroyed the menacing tagger earlier this year racking up 32 touches and 152 SC points. Seriously consider.
Trent Cotchin
His name has been mud amongst fantasy circles for much of the year, but a three-round average of 138 has people taking notice! It would take a brave coach to place the C on him but if you are yet to use your VC, Cotchin could be worth the gamble.
Lance Franklin
All eyes will be on Buddy as he once again takes on his former club. Another risky option here, but with the lack of options he may arise as a smokey for some. Franklin’s form is ominous, the Hawks don’t look have the match-up for Buddy on paper and if he continues on from his second half two weeks ago – look out!
Scott Pendlebury
Past 5 vs Adelaide – 128, 153, 118, 124, 104
With Ablett out of the picture, Pendlebury is the obvious choice for your skipper. His record and form speaks for itself but while he may be “obvious” it also makes him as common a one-eyed Collingwood fan. If you need a point of difference to make up some points, check out my options above.
