Freshmen (newbies): Guys named for their first match of their career, or guys coming back from injury who are dirt cheap.
About to burst: These fellas have played two matches this year, and if you don't jump on them this round, their price will explode. Basically just a warning signal.
Rookie watch: These guys have been in our teams from the start, but by monitoring their break-even every week it's easier to gauge when to jump off them, even if they've served you well. Remember, there's no room for sentiment in SuperCoach.
Cheapened stars: They may not have exactly 'fallen from grace', but it's not unusual for a gun to average 100 yet still see a price drop of $100,000. These guys are the perfect trade-up targets, and a smart selection here is just as important as picking the right rookie.
Freshmen:
Lee Spurr (Fre) $116,700, DEF
Lots of good things said about Spurr in pre-season, and he was upgraded as soon as Fyfe was ruled out. A real chance.
Sunday teams (yet to finalised)
Josh Bootsma (Carl) $106,600, DEF
Chewy on your Bootsma! Might play against GWS, but after that, unlikely.
Liam Sumner (GWS) $151,600, MID
A flashy, Dale Thomas style player. Too much to pay when there are better options.
Jacob Brennan (WC) $113,200, DEF
Hasn't he debuted yet? Seemily on the extended bench every week, he must be close.
Matthew Arnot (Rich) $106,600, MID
Can he crack into a midfield of Deledio, Cotchin, Tuck, Grigg, Martin, Jackson, Nahas on a permanent basis?
Murray Newman (WC) $106,600, MID
Unsure, not yet.
Brad McKenzie (NM) $111,600, MID
His name was thrown up last year. I'd love to see him given a crack.
About to burst:
Jesse Stringer (Geel) $113,200, MID - Ave 63
Performed solidly for the Cats, alongside some real champs.
Jack Crisp (Bris) $94,700 MID - Ave 53
Three behinds on debut (including one in the goalsquare), and he followed it up nicely again last week. Absolute basement price - could do worse.
Darren Pfeiffer (Port) $126,700 MID/FOR - Ave 62
The DPP makes him look real tempting, I'm worried about his job-security though.
Lachie Neale (Fre) $106,600 MID - Ave 24
He hasn't set it alight, but only because he has been sub twice. With his low average wait until next week.
Rookie watch:
Tom Bugg: Ave 84, BE: -5 - Schon reckons this guy is a keeper.
Jack Hombsch: Ave 72, BE: 5
Dylan Shiel: Ave 66, BE: 2
Steve Morris: Ave 61, BE: 10
Toby Greene: Ave 80, BE: -1
Brandon Ellis: Ave 55, BE: 9
Devon Smith: Ave 51, BE: 62 - Time to sell young Devon?
Curtly Hampton: Ave 42, BE: -13
Adam Tomlinson: Ave 50, BE: 4
Israel Folau: Ave 34, BE: -25
James Magner: Ave 80, BE: 10
Stephen Coniglio: Ave 60, BE: 19 - Consistent 60s each week, an ideal rookie selection.
Steve Motlop: Ave 72, BE: 25
Cameron Guthrie: Ave 55, BE 25
Terry Milera: Ave 67, BE: 13
Jamie Cripps: Ave 40, BE: -3
Paul Bower: Ave 64, BE: 43
James McDonald: Ave 85, BE: -41
Jeremy Cameron: Ave 58, BE: -22
Cheapened Stars:
No CSs this week, except for Steve Johnson - who has tumbled an incredible $162,800 already. He has averaged just 63, so it would take a brave coach to buy him, and hope he turns it around. He'll set you back just $418,900.
