There are only two SuperCoach 'Home & Away' rounds to go, so you have to get it right, whether you are going for a top 8 or top 4 spot. There's downgrades and upgrades on every line this round!
Freshmen (newbies): Guys named for their first match of their career, or guys coming back from injury who are dirt cheap.
About to burst: These fellas have played two matches this year, and if you don't jump on them this round, their price will explode. Basically just a warning signal.
Cheapened stars: They may not have exactly 'fallen from grace', but it's not unusual for a gun to average 100 yet still see a price drop of $100,000. These guys are the perfect trade-up targets, and a smart selection here is just as important as picking the right rookie.
Freshmen:
Sam Docherty (Bris) $141,600, DEF/MID
The first-year player Docherty might get his chance for the Lions on Saturday. Will probably play across half-back.
About to burst:
Anthony Miles (GWS) $113,200, MID, Ave: 83.5
Miles has slotted into the Giants' side seemlessly and is the best option for a midfield downgrade this week.
Mark Baguley (Ess) $94,700, DEF/MID, Ave: 68
All of the injuries at Essendon opened up a position for Baguley in defence and he's taken it. Super-cheap too helps.
Scott Gumbleton (Ess) $172,700, FOR, Ave: 70
The Gumby is back, and two relatively impressive weeks will mean a decent price rise.
Taylor Hine (GC) $113,200, DEF, Ave: 47
The Suns have mixed and matched their players as much as the Giants, and Hine is in for his third match. Risky, job security not great.
Cheapened Stars:
Alex Rance (Rich) $388,100, DEF, Ave: 89, BE: 55
Rance has scored over 90 points on nine occassions this season, and his last two read: 91 & 95. Super cheap and unique, in less than 6% of teams.
Sam Fisher (St.K) $366,500, DEF, Ave: 80 BE: 112
Is it worth the gamble? He's been reliable for so long, but Fisher's year has been up and down. Looks to be playing as a shut-down defender, which might change when Jason Blake returns.
Marc Murphy (Carl) $452,100, MID, Ave: 105, BE: 62
Murphy has returned successfully without hurting his shoulder further, so he is a prime trade-up target.
Brad Green (Melb) $268,800, FOR, Ave: 50, BE: -14
Just ridiculously cheap. Getting dropped by Neeld might have saved his career, as his last two have produced scores of 89 & 93. As his next four games are: North, Gold Coast, St.Kilda & GWS, you could do a lot worse.
You've got to take risks to win in SuperCoach!
