With only one bye round to go, thankfully there were no injuries to key players last weekend, reducing somewhat the carnage of the missing teams this weekend. However, there were a few “bit-part” players who did get injured and will need replacing in one way or another this week if your team is to be even remotely competitive. In addition, there are some huge question marks over a couple of superstars moving forward – just how long will they be out for?
(Note – Players with the asterisk * have the bye this week)
Will SCHOFIELD (West Coast. Value $355,800. Av. 76. Hamstring strain – out 3 weeks)

Will SCHOFIELD (West Coast. Value $355,800. Av. 76. Hamstring strain – out 3 weeks)
An integral part of the solid West Coast Eagles backline with his dash and flair, SCHOFIELD has been a solid performer in SC circles this year, averaging 76 pts a game and rising $28,000 for the 2% of teams who have him the year. The highlight for SCHOFIELD would undoubtedly be his probable goal-of-the-year a few weeks back, having several bounces down the outer wing at Paterson’s Stadium before slotting the goal from 50. Last week however provided the lowlight, a hamstring strain meaning he will miss at least the next 3 weeks, including this weekend’s huge match-up against the Pies. If you have him, it’s time to move him on.
Possibilities : Phil DAVIS (GWS) - $355,100 Av 75
*Bachar HOULI (Rich) - $351,000 Av 80 My Choice – Even With the Bye
Michael FIRRITO (Nth) - $332,200 Av 77
Thomas BUGG (GWS) - $326,000 Av 76
Sam SHAW (Adel) - $179,000 Av 73 $$$$$$$$$$$$$
Hamish HARTLETT (Port Adelaide. Value $461,700. Av 91. Hamstring strain – out 3 to 4 weeks)
One of the improving Port Adelaide midfielders, HARTLETT has had a fairly impressive 2012, showing his exquisite skills and silky moves numerous times through the 2012 season so far. With scores ranging from 70 to 153, HARTLETT is yet to find the consistency of a top-line onballer, however the signs are there that he could be one to watch in 2013, particularly if team mate Travis BOAK heads home to Geelong in the off season. Another to fall to the hamstring strain, there are some very handy replacements for HARTLETT should you be in the 1% of coaches who selected him.
Possibilities : *David ARMITAGE (ST.K) - $456,000 Av 90
Michael BARLOW (Freo) - $452,200 Av 90
Brent REILLY (Adel) - $449,800 Av 94
*Jared BRENNAN (GC) - $449,500 Av 95
*Kade SIMPSON (Carl) - $444,900 Av 98 My Choice – Ball Magnet
Jay SCHULZ (Port Adelaide. Value $438,600. Av 82. Internal Bleeding – Out for a month)
A shining light in the Powers forwardline, SCHULZ confounds most football experts by continuing to perform admirably most weeks without much fanfare. Rising a touch under $100,000 for the season, SCHULZ’s scores have ranged from 43 to 127, with a tidy average of 82. However, he has been crunched one too many times, last weekend ending up in ICU at Hospital with serious internal bleeding that had the club extremely concerned for some time. Fortunately is appears he will make a full recovery and be back in around a month – unfortunately, that’s too long for the 1.5% of SC teams who have him to wait.
Possibilities : Mitch CLARK (Melb) - $436,200 Av 85
Jarryd BLAIR (Coll) - $435,700 Av 89
*Danny STANLEY (GC) - $428,700 Av 91
*Dustin MARTIN (Rich) - $426,600 Av 85
Travis CLOKE (Coll) - $396,600 Av 88 My Choice – Potential to Score Big
That’s it for the major injuries to arise from last weekend, however there are a couple of stars who have also given the SC world a bit to think about for round 13 and beyond. Firstly, Saints skipper Nick RIEWOLDT played through a “minor calf injury” against the Crows last Friday night, his impact on the game considerably less than normal. The Club is saying the bye weekend should allow him enough time to recover, but given his age and the reputation of calf injuries, will he miss more than the one bye week and do you need to move him on? Secondly, word from Collingwood is that Scott PENDLEBURY will definitely miss this weekend and most likely the following week as well, as he struggles to recover from his own leg injury. Is that too long for a star like Pendles to be sitting on your bench? My advice would be to keep both of these guys, but if you are desperate for a win to stay alive in your SC League, maybe you need to bite the bullet?
