Buddy FRANKLIN (Hawthorn. Value - $617,800. Av 118. Hamstring injury – 2,3,4 or 5 wks?)
Possibilities : Dayne BEAMS (Coll) - $589,100 Av 110
Paul CHAPMAN (Geel) - $557,700 Av 109
Matthew PAVLICH (Freo) - $543,300 Av 104
Steele SIDEBOTTOM (Coll) - $542,200 Av 111
Adam GOODES (Syd) - $446,900 Av 97 My Choice – An Absolute Bargain
Beau WATERS (West Coast. Value - $504,800 Av 100. Knee Surgery – Out 4 to 5 weeks)
Always an SC favourite, WATERS is one of those players everyone loves – tough, uncompromising and skilful, a no-nonsense star. Unfortunately that style of play leads to his fair share of injuries, and Beau has succumbed to a knee injury and gone under the knife, meaning he will miss anywhere up to 5 or 6 matches. WATERS has been a ripper down back this year, averaging 100 pts per game, so his absence will really hurt the 16% of teams that have him. The question again becomes simple – do you have coverage or do you have to bite the bullet and make the trade?
Possibilities : Pearce HANLEY (Bris) - $500,100 Av 94
Heath SHAW (Coll) - $498,900 Av 103
Heath SCOTLAND (Carl) - $488,300 Av 100
Shannon HURN (WCE) - $479,900 Av 95
Andrew CARRAZZO (Carl) - $471,400 Av 96 My Choice – Ball Magnet
Kade SIMPSON (Carlton. Value - $405,500. Av 93. Broken Jaw – Out 4 weeks)
Wow, what a hit this one was. Gutsy winger SIMPSON was absolute belted into next week by Collingwood onballer Sharrod WELLINGHAM, breaking his jaw in the process – and sidelining him for the next month. Although only in 1.5% of teams, SIMPSON was a good point-of-difference with an average of 93 pts per game. Unfortunately he now has to be traded - and if you happen to have the two guys already listed as well, you’re in all sorts of bother.
Possibilities : Allen CHRISTENSEN (Geel) - $397,900 Av 84
Jack ZIEBELL (Nth) - $394,400 Av 82
Colin SYLVIA (Melb) - $390,500 Av 66
Jarred BRENNAN (GC) - $375,900 Av 87 My Choice – Mr Unpredictable!
Clancee PEARCE (Freo) - $373,000 Av 81
The three following guys all have those annoying suspensions that drive SC players INSANE – two or three week indiscretions that are KILLERS at this time of the season. Do you hold or do you trade? Again it comes down to your teams situation and whether you are fighting to stay in the top four or top eight – or whether you have enough trades left anyway.
Jimmy BARTEL (Geelong. Value $496,100. Av 102. Suspended two weeks)
What a goose. An undisciplined act that was very unlike Jimmy, and could ultimately cost his team in the difficult run it has to the Finals – not to mention that effect it has on the 9% of SC teams who have him.
Possibilities : Lenny HAYES (St.K) - $493,900 Av 104 My Choice – Like for Like
James KELLY (Geel) - $491,100 Av 99
Brent SYTANTON (Ess) - $489,700 Av 116
Sharrod WELLINGHAM (Collingwood. Value $452,200. Av 87. Suspended three weeks)
VERY lucky to only get 3 weeks, WELLINGHAM’s hit on Kade SIMPSON was one of the worst of the season, and left the Blue onballer with a broken jaw. For the 1% of Sc teams who have him, three weeks could be too much to cover.
Possibilities : David ARMITAGE (ST.K) - $451,500 Av 88
Adam GOODES (Syd) - $446,900 Av 97 My Choice - Superstar
Brent REILLY (Adel) - $434,600 Av 94
Luke SHUEY (West Coast. Value - $519,000. Av 108. Suspended two weeks)
Two weeks for a deliberate elbow to the jats crackers? I’d say SHUEY got off pretty lightly too, which isn’t much consolation to the 2.5% of SC teams who have to figure out whether to hold him this week or not.
Possibilities : Nathan JONES (Melb) - $518,900 Av 98
Nick Dal SANTO (St.K) - $514,200 Av 105 My Choice – An Absolute Bargain
Callan WARD (GWS) - $497,300 Av 105
TRADE OF THE WEEK
Once again there’s a stand out trade of the week for this week, particularly on the back of his performance last weekend. Sydney superstar Adam GOODES ($446,900) amassed a very tidy 148 pts last round against the Lions, and even though the Swans take on WCE in Perth this weekend, GOODES is still worthy of one of your few remaining precious trades. Yes, Sydney have a pretty tough run home, but GOODES is renowned for his performances late in the season, so pick him up and watch him explode. At that price he’s an absolute bargain.
