With most of us starting to run low on trades and looking to stockpile them for the Finals, the good news to come out of last weekend’s round of footy was few injuries and, apart from the again-undisciplined Matthew SCARLETT, no suspensions. With only two regular rounds to go, are you looking to tinker a little with your side – or do you have one or two of those listed below and simply have to bit the bullet and trade to survive?
Kurt TIPPETT (Adelaide. Value - $352,500 Av 87. Concussed again – out for who knows?)
Kurt TIPPETT (Adelaide. Value - $352,500 Av 87. Concussed again – out for who knows?)
Selected in a staggering 19.2% of SC teams, Crow big man TIPPETT has had a wretched run with injury this year, being concussed three times in the last handful of matches. Understandably Adelaide are being very cautious with their prime asset, and he will miss this week at the very least – my guess would be probably one or two more on top of that. Given his value and how close Finals are, can you afford to hold him – or do you have enough trades to move him on and keep your team competitive?
Possibilities : Lindsay THOMAS (Nth) - $348,900 Av 77
Stewart CRAMERI (Ess) - $340,600 Av 85 My Choice – So Long As He Plays!!
Luke POWER (GWS) - $337,100 Av 81
Travis CLOKE (Coll) - $334,100 Av 79
Shane MUMFORD (Sydney. Value - $397,000. Bone bruising on the knee – 1 week, maybe more?)
Yet ANOTHER injury-prone big man, MUMMY was just starting to get his game back in shape and has again been struck down by injury. Whilst the injury this time seems minor, injuries to ruckmen’s legs are notorious for taking longer to heal than first expected. If you are one of the 5% of teams who have him and you are already in ruck trouble, can you afford to carry the big fella on your bench?
Possibilities : David HILLE (Ess) - $390,000 Av 70
Tom BELLCHAMBERS (Ess) - $377,000 Av 85
Mike PYKE (Syd) - $358,400 Av 81 My Choice – Will fill Mummy’s Shoes Nicely
Josh JENKINS (Adel) - $285,500 Av 75 $$$$$$$$$
Shaun HIGGINS (Bulldogs. Value - $433,100 Av 78. Hamstring strain – out for 3 weeks?)
Ah Missy, we should’ve known an injury was just around the corner. Perennial disappointment Shaun HIGGINS has gone down again, this time straining his hamstring just when we thought he might actually put most of a season together. I’m amazed 3.25% of SC teams actually have him – WOW. As a midfielder or a forward, at this vital time of year he has to go – simple as that.
Possibilities : As A Midfielder
Dan HANNEBERY (Syd) - $430,900 Av 85
Colin SYLVIA (Melb) - $429,800 Av 72
David ARMITAGE (St.K) - $429,300 Av 88 My Choice – Hard as Nails
Matthew WRIGHT (Adel) - $428,800 Av 86
As A Forward
Colin SYLVIA (Melb) - $429,800 Av 72
Matthew WRIGHT (Adel) - $428,800 Av 86
Michael JOHNSON (Freo) - $414,700 Av 92 My Choice – Having a Great Year
Travis CLOKE (Coll) - $379,400 Av 85
TRADE OF THE WEEK
After last weekend’s massive success with Matthew PAVLICH (160 pts, thank you very much) the pressure is on for the T.O.T.W section, so let’s see what we can dredge up this week to add some value to your SC squad. Carlton’s Marc MURPHY is the obvious choice this week, after returning from injury and finally getting that 38 he scored in round 9 out of his system. MURPH has scored 112 and 105 since returning, and is valued at a paltry $452,100 – down a massive $187,800 from the start of the year. With a breakeven of just 62, he will never be this cheap – and, as an added bonus, the Blues play Gold Coast in SC Preliminary Final week. Could MURPHY be the last piece in your SC puzzle?
