Round 6 brings a slight reprieve from the chaos of last week, although there are still some big name players who have sustained some injuries that will keep them out of your SC team for an extended period of time. For the first time in 2012 we have a second Trade Winds entry for Nat FYFE, who this time really is out for about 12 weeks. Were you an idiot like me and kept him, only to see his price plummet? Let’s see who you can trade him for now….
Nat FYFE (Fremantle. Value - $484,500. Av 81.5 Shoulder reco – gone for 12 weeks)
Gee, thanks Freo. Finally, FYFE does his shoulder good and proper at training as is put straight under the knife, missing the next four months of football and rendering him useless as a fantasy player until then. I held onto the Fremantle gun, hoping he would come good, but even in scoring almost 100 last week it was clear he was going 100% - not even 85%. The right decision has been made, and we look forward to seeing him back later in the year (as a trade option for SC finals perhaps??)
Possibilities : As a Forward
Travis CLOKE (Coll) - $489,000 Av 95 (need some extra cash) My Choice
Paul CHAPMAN (Geel) - $484,000 Av 93
Patrick DANGERFIELD (Adel) - $476,700 Av 103
As a Midfielder
Tendai MZUNGU (Freo) - $482,900 Av 100 My Choice - Unique
Patrick DANGERFIELD (Adel) - $476,700 Av 103
David SWALLOW (GC) - $450,600 Av 95
Shane MUMFORD (Sydney. Value - $610,300. Av 102. Infection – out for another 3 weeks)
It was revealed just before team-selection last weekend that the big Mummy would be missing for a month due to an infection from some treatment he had received to his back. The loss of Mumford is a huge blow to the 6.7% of SC teams who relied on him, particularly as he has only played two games so far this season. Luckily most have Giles as back-up, but the time may have come to move Mumford on – the question is do you trade him down and use Giles as a permanent (if you went the two premo strategy), or do you trade him for another premo? The choice is yours.
Possibilities : Dean COX (WCE) - $548,200 Av 95
Patrick RYDER (Ess) - $534,300 Av 118 My Choice – What an Average!
Jarryd ROUGHEAD (Haw) - $527,400 Av 98
Nic NATANUI (WCE) - $519,600 Av 107
Josh. J. KENNEDY (West Coast. Value - $357,000. Av 61. Broken Foot – out for 12 weeks)
Wow, what an injury curse the Eagles have and they are STILL on top of the ladder. Unbelievable. In addition to Embly, Nicoski and LeCras, the Eagles now have KENNEDY on the long term injury list as well. Who is left in their forward line – Wally MATERA and Karl LANGDON? Their loss of key forwards must have an effect sooner or later – unfortunately if you have KENNEDY, the effect on your SC team is much more instant. He has to go – the problem is who to replace him with?
Possibilities : Jonathan BROWN (Bris) - $353,000 Av 45 My Choice – Worth the Punt
Lindsay THOMAS (Kang) - $341,300 Av 76
Steven MOTLOP (Geel) - $301,900 Av 72
Rhys STANLEY (St.K) - $301,700 Av 76
Michael HIBBERD (Essendon. Value - $400,200. Av 80. Hamstring injury – out 3 to 4 weeks)
Another round of footy, another soft-tissue injury to the Bombers. What the hell has Jimmy Hird done to these guys over the off-season? Whatever has happened, it’s affected a lot of them and HIBBERD now joins the queue. So, with backline players struggling in general, it’s time for the 2.5% of SC teams who have the ever-improving HIBBERD to make a change – unless, of course, you have coverage on the bench.
Possibilities : Jack GRIMES(Melb) - $386,800 Av 84My Choice – If He Stays On The Park!
Garrick IBBOTSON (Freo) - $385,200 Av 73
Matt MAGUIRE (Bris) - $367,400 Av 80
Jake BATCHELOR (Rich) - $352,900 Av 85
Well, that’s about all at this stage. Many teams were lucky they weren’t faced with suspensions to Montagna and Selwood this week, and in addition to that it appears the Gazza won’t be back for 2 or 3 weeks yet. So, do you trade him now or do you have other, more pressing needs? The games have begun people – and it’s only round 6!
