with Adelaide’s Jared PETRENKO, big Mummy hasn’t had the greatest of season’s, down $88,200 in value for the year. Despite that, he is still a mainstay in 7% of SC teams, but now the time has come to move him on. As a direct swap you could look at guys like ‘Sauce’ JACOBS (Av 82) or Jonathan GILES (Av 75 – with 116 last week), but the sneaky value might just be in a downgrade to Suns impressive new ruckman Tom NICHOLLS (Av 114). Although he’s only played 2 games, he looks a likely type and will continue to get games with Zac SMITH out for the year. The added bonus is a nice $280,000 in the bank from the transaction.
Obviously NICHOLLS is on everyone’s radar this week after his super-impressive match last week against quality opposition in Todd GOLDSTEIN, scoring a whopping 139 points. However, with one week of the byes out of the way, there are definitely some returning players you should look to bring in to strengthen your team from this point through to the Finals. With Fremantle, Hawthorn, Richmond, Bulldogs, Brisbane and Port all returning to the playing field this week, the following is a list of the players you should be targeting in round 12.
Richmond midfield duo Trent COTCHIN and Brett DELEDIO, as well as defender Bachar HOULI
Fremantle midfield trio Michael BARLOW, Nat FYFE and David MUNDY
Hawthorn stars Grant BIRCHALL and Sam MITCHELL
Bulldogs rookie Nathan HROVAT, who is about to hit the 3 game bubble
Brisbane defender Pearce HANLEY, one of the most prolific defenders in the competition
Port gun Hamish HARTLETT, who is at a bargain price after a few lean weeks
Don’t forget, its only your best 18 scorers who get involved in your team’s overall total for the bye rounds, so be realistic about your trading and don’t go overboard . Including this week there are still eight rounds of SC to go before the Finals, so you need to balance your aggressive team management with the ability to cover injuries or suspensions from here until the real competition starts come Finals time.
Good luck and good trading.
