Basically this is where'll you need to come for everything you need to know regarding riding the rookie ramp - breakeven scores, trade-down targets, cheap guns - it'll have everything.
Here are the topics that we'll cover in this year's Rookie Ramp:
New newbies: Guys named for their first match of their career, or guys coming back from injury who are dirt cheap.
About to burst: These fellas have played two matches this year, and if you don't jump on them this round, their price will explode. Basically just a warning signal.
Rookie watch: These guys have been in our teams from the start, but by monitoring their break-even every week it's easier to gauge when to jump off them, even if they've served you well. Remember, there's no room for sentiment in SuperCoach.
Cheapened stars: They may not have exactly 'fallen from grace', but it's not unusual for a gun to average 100 yet still see a price drop of $100,000. These guys are the perfect trade-up targets, and a smart selection here is just as important as picking the right rookie.
New newbies:
Cameron Delaney - NM - Defender - $113,200
A solid key defender who has been on the list a few seasons. Yet to play AFL, and most likely to be a traditional lock-down stopper, probably for one of the opponents' best forward. Not yet.
James Sellar - Melb - Defender/Ruck - $229,900
It won't be his first AFL match, but his first for the Demons after several seasons at the Crows. Very versatile player and a strong performance could see him become the next Stefan Martin - the Mr. Fix-It.
Tom Ledger - St.K - St.K - Midfielder - $113,200
He frustrated many coaches last week with his late withdrawal, but surely it's a case of second-time-lucky for Ledger, but the subs vest is a worrying possibility.
Jack Newnes - St.K - Midfielder - $106,600
An interesting selection for the Saints, and I know very little about him. One things for sure, watch his progress for two weeks and then make a decision on whether he is worthy to be in your side.
About to burst:
There are no players to look at yet, and no break-evens to analyse (because nobody has played two matches yet!) Nevertheless, it will be here next week.
Rookie watch:
At Collingwood, Paul Seedsman and Jackson Paine kept their spots, but six-pointer Peter Yagmoor was dropped.
At GWS, of course, James McDonald is suspended, and while Melbourne's Josh Tynan was dropped after one game, James Magner will play his second this week.
Sydney Swans' sub Harry Cunningham was dropped after a solitary performance coming off the bench, and in other good news Billie Smedts, Orren Stephenson, Josh Mellington and Aaron Hall all retained their positions.
The two Clays are locked in for match #2 as well - Clay Smith from the Bulldogs has recovered from cramp and Claye Beams played his second of the season on Thursday night - meaning he is set for a price-rise.
And while he is technically not a rookie, popular forward John Butcher is out with a hamstring complaint.
Cheapened guns:
None yet, but slow starts from Dane Swan, Corey Enright, Greg Broughton and Chris Newman, just to name a few, means that they'll all almost certainly see a dip in price after round three.
