1. Chris NEWMAN Richmond
2. Chris YARRAN Carlton
One of Carlton’s most important players, YARRAN’s run off the half-backline has been sorely missed this year, due to both injury and form. Last weekend however he was back, scoring a nice 114 pts – up significantly on his 2012 average of just 64. This week the Blues take on the Kangas in a ripper match-up, and YARRAN should be confident of a good match – his only previous game against them, in 2011 at Etihad, he punched out a nice 136 pts.
3. Daniel KERR West Coast
Nuggety ball magnet KERR has been solid without being spectacular in 2012. His average this year is 84 pts per game, however last week he produced a solid 116 pt game against the Roos. This weekend the Eagles take on Sydney, a team against who KERR averages 128 pts per game. That sounds juicy enough, but when you look back to 2007 you see why he’s a nominee this week – that year, in Sydney against the Swans, KERR smashed out a 225 pt game. Holy crap Batman.
As usual, we look at the teams playing the weaker sides as part of our wrap. This weekend Freo, Richmond and Adelaide are playing Melbourne, GC and GWS, so consider the likes of PAVLICH, BARLOW, DELEDIO, COTCHIN, J. RIEWOLDT and Scott THOMPSON as worthy captaincy choices.
