Ryan GRIFFEN (Western Bulldogs)
Fast becoming one of the elite midfielders of the game and finally reaching his huge potential, GRIFFEN has been a star this season, averaging 113 pts per game and belting out a nice 123 pt game last weekend against the disappointing Kangaroos. This week he comes up against the Gold Coast Suns, a team against whom he averages 131 pts per game, including scores of 118 and 145 in the 2011 season. Could the Griff be the one to put a smile on your dial?
Brent HARVEY (Kangaroos)
Now this is a brave call. HARVEY has been struggling of late, only managing a 65 pt game last weekend – however, he history is littered with disappointing games followed by absolute belters. Averaging only 86 pts per game this year, Boomer this week takes on Port Adelaide, a team against whom he averages a very nice 123 pts per game. In 2011 he achieved scores of 129 and 77 against the Power, while in 2010 he managed 110. Could Boomer on the rebound be the player to get you across the line?
Dean COX (West Coast)
Yes, NicNat is back so Coxy’s score is expected to be negatively affected, but a look at the stats might prove otherwise – especially against a Saints lineup without a recognized ruckman. Big Cox averages a tidy 119 pts a game against the Saints, which include 137 pts in 2011, 107 pts in 2010 and 112 points in 2009. On his home turf against the likes of Blake, Stanley and Kosi, it could be a point-fest for Coxy – but are you brave enough?
As usual, it’s also worth thinking of additional players taking on GWS and Gold Coast. Brizzie play GWS, so Tom ROCKLIFF might be a nice selection from that game, whilst the Bulldogs are playing Gold Coast and – other than Griffen listed above – the other obvious choice would be Matthew BOYD. Good luck!
