1. Jonathan BROWN Brisbane Lions
Big JB hasn’t exactly inspired us all in 2012, averaging 72 pts per game for the season and looking more and more like he is coming toward the end of what has been a stellar career. However, this weekend he takes on the Hawks at the MCG – a ground the big fella averages 105 pts at, and a team against who he averages 124 pts throughout his career. Recent results include 110 in 2011, 74 in 2010 and 130 in 2009. If the Hawks have a weakness it’s down back – could BROWNY exploit that this round and give us a vintage performance?
2. Daniel CROSS Western Bulldogs
Very much a quiet achiever in SC terms, CROSS is one of those players who just seems to go about his business week in, week out with minimum fuss. Averaging 102 for season 2012, this week the Bullies come up against an improving Port Power – a team against who CROSS averages a very tidy 123 pts per game. His last three scores from 2009,10 and 11 read nicely – 152, 138 and 103 respectively. Could CROSS be the man to get you over the line this week?
3. Daniel WELLS Nth Melbourne
Averaging 98 pts per game in 2012, WELLS is not exactly a favourite of the Captain Courageous segment, given that we recommended him in round 5 against the Gold Coast (the same opponent as this weekend) and he repaid us with a paltry 60 points. However, it is difficult to ignore the result prior to that, from 2011, where WELLS smashed out a huge 180 pts against the Suns. Those two scores have resulted in him averaging 120 pts a game against them – but which WELLS will appear this weekend? Dr Jeckyl or Mr Hyde?
As usual, we also need to look at the GWS and Gold Coast opponents also. Given that we recommended Dane SWAN in this little blurb last week and he belted out 160, this is where the real hidden gems might be. This week cast your eye over DELEDIO, COTCHIN and HARVEY as other potential leaders for your SC team in round 12. BUDDY and DAL SANTO also have great records against their opponents this weekend.
You going left-field with your captain selection this week?
