You can find a million articles on the internet telling you to pick Swan or Pendles – we’re trying to find the diamond in the rough. Last week we had Montagna (101), Wells (60) and Bartel (78). Ouch! Let’s see if we can do a little better this week…just what do the stats tell us for round 6?
1. Matt PRIDDIS (West Coast)
The mop-haired ball magnet from the West has always been a strong collector of possessions, and 2012 has been no exception with PRIDDIS so far achieving a SC average of 107 pts per game. This weekend he comes up against the Kangaroos, a team he has a very healthy average of 145 pts against. In the last 3 years, PRIDDIS has scored 128, 121 and 151 against the Rooboys, and over his career he has an average of 103 pts at Paterson Stadium. That all points to a pretty good day for him – but do you have th guts to pick him?
2. James PODSIADLY (Geelong)
This is the second nomination for the Pods, who let us down last time we named him despite kicking five goals for that match. This week Pods is at home in Geelong, against a Melbourne team who I think will pull up pretty sore after throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the Saints last weekend. PODSIADLY averages 106 at Skilled Stadium, and in his only game against the Demons (last year), snagged a healthy 144 pts. Perhaps Pods could be your savior this week?
3. Lenny HAYES (St Kilda)
Is there anyone in the footy world who doesn’t love Lenny? Back from a knee-reco as if he had never been gone, HAYES has slotted right back in to the Saints midfield, averaging 112 so far this year. This week Lenny runs into the Hawks, a team he has scored 125 and 138 against in his last two previous outings. With an average of 100 at the MCG, Lenny could be just the man to belt out another 120+ game for your side this weekend.
Of course, the Blues are the lucky one playing GWS this week – obviously big midfield names Judd and Murphy would be right up there on your radar for captain also. Bit too obvious though!
