1. Brendan GODDARD (St Kilda)
Well, it worked last weekend and it’s worth another shot this week. Those that didn’t select Goddard in their original side would be kicking themselves now, as he belted out a lazy
2. Brent STANTON (Essendon)
Finally it appears the much-maligned Stanton may be living up to his reputation. Long the scape-goat of Bomber fans, Stanton has been on fire early in 2012 with scores of 180 and 134 to be leading the competition in points scored. This week he comes up against the Gold Coast Suns, who he scored 141 against in their only match-up last year. The Suns have been anything but impressive in the first two rounds, and I can’t see that changing this week. Get on board Stanton – he could be in for another bottler.
3. James PODSIADLY (Geelong)
Very risky to pick a forward, I know, but it’s hard to go past the big J-Pod when you look at the stats. With a very juicy average of 135 against the Kangas, Podsy scored 125 against them in 2011 and 145 against them in 2010. After breaking the ton in both games so far this year, perhaps this week Pods could be the left field pick to surprise your opponent – and get your team that all-important first victory?
Note : One more hint. After last weekend’s GWS debacle, seriously consider any WCE player you have as captain for round 3, particularly Priddis or NicNat. They could be in for a huge day.
