A players Supercoach score reflects on how well they have played and how much they have influenced the game. So the top 3 Supercoach scores of each game will be awarded with 3,2 and 1 votes. For example from the round 1 clash GWS v Sydney the votes would go to:
3. Josh Kennedy (137 SC points)
2. Kieran Jack (133 SC points)
1. Jude Bolton (127 SC points)
At the completion of round 10 the super start from Brent Stanton saw him leading the Supercoach Brownlow from Scott Pendlebury and Gary Ablett. Stanton was averaging 126 up to round 11 but dropped of later in the year and didn’t poll again.
SuperCoach Brownlow Leaderboard After 10 Rounds:
1st Brent Stanton 16
2nd Scott Pendlebury 15
3rd Gary Ablett 13
4th Brett Deledio 12
4th Scott Thompson 12
6th Jobe Watson 11
6th Matthew Boyd 11
But while Stanton couldn’t poll a vote again after round 10, Saint Jason Blake, who currently holds the record for the most games without getting a Brownlow vote, finally polled for the first time. Blake dominated in St.Kilda's round 11 win over the Suns with 21 disposals, 28 hit outs, 1 goal and 144 Supercoach points that resulted in 2 Supercoach Brownlow votes.
The real surprise packet of Supercoach Brownlow was Tigers veteran Shane Tuck. He ended up finishing 3rd on 25 votes. With the emergence of Cotchin and Maric, Tuck has not been given the credit he deserves for his outstanding season and is rated a 1000-1 chance of taking home the Brownlow with some betting agencies.
Gary Ablett, who finished with a 138 score average scored the most points for anyone this season even though he missed two games with injury. With some huge scores of 189, 188, 182, 171 and 165 it is no surprise that Gary Ablett took out the 2012 Supercoach Brownlow Medal!
