Best first year player: Aaron Hall – 8 matches 481 points @ 60.3. Increased $159,100
Hall was handy back up in a very difficult position, the forward line bench. They were very few options there all year and it helped that Hall’s eight matches were spread pretty well right throughout the season.

Most improved: Harley Bennell - 22 matches, 2146 points @ 97.6. Increased $119,500
Regardless how you pronounce his last name, the former #2 draft pick’s year was incredible. He scored over 90 points 13 times, including a massive 193 against Melbourne in round 19. You can bet that Bennell will at least match this and possibly improve on 2012’s output.
Best buy: Gary Ablett - 20 matches, 2768 points @ 138.4. Increased $12,700
He’s the best SuperCoach player in the league, by far. He scored the most points out of anyone even though he missed two games. He might cost bucket-loads again next year but he’ll be worth it.
Worst buy: Jared Brennan- 17 matches, 1328 points @ 78.1. Decreased $154,300
Talent? Check. Job security? Check. Years of experience? Check. Playing in the midfield and off half-back? Check. Brennan ticks all the boxes, but fails to score well in SuperCoach. Maybe he’s too casual. If you work out why, come see me.
2013 prospects
Dion Prestia: The nuggety little midfielder is awesome to watch, and after two full seasons in the AFL I think Dion could be ready to explode.
Nathan Bock: Broke his leg early last year, but prior to that was a star and a premium defender. With a solid pre-season back him in at a reduced price.
Greg Broughton: What a pick-up for the Suns. He nearly killed thousands of coaches last year, and who knows if he’ll do the same again? A fresh start with a new coach and hopefully new position means that I’ll fall for the trap again, no doubt.
Zac Smith: Sure, he suffered the second year blues. But he is too talented and athletic to not become a star of the game. A smoky for the second ruck spot.
Dave Swallow: If he develops in the same progression that his brother Andrew did, he’s still got a little way to go. However you can’t deny that the number one draft pick will be an elite midfielder sooner rather than later.
