Best First Year Player : Chad WINGARD - 19 matches, 982 points @ 52. Increased $110,900
A popular preseason player of interest, WINGARD had a pretty consistent season in a struggling team, playing 19 matches and averaging 52 pts a game. Classic rookie stats, but at least he stayed in the side and picked up

valuable game time and experience, showing glimpses of potential and finishing the year with 87 and 75 pts in the last two games. Could be one to watch in 2013.
Most Improved Player : Matthew BROADBENT - 22 matches, 1858 points @ 84 Increased $62,300
One who slipped under the radar in general SC terms, BROADBENT had an impressive year for a 22 year old, playing every game for the Power and scoring four tons, including a top score of a whopping 153 against the Gold Coast in round 9, which he backed up with 126 the following round against Carlton. Considering his 2011 average was just 61, this year the kid definitely showed he can get the pill.
Best Buy : Brad EBERT - 22 matches, 2201 points @ 100 Increased $140,100
Won this category by a long way. Surprisingly only selected in 5% of teams, EBERT was easily Port’s best and most consistent player in 2012, averaging 100 pts per game, with a staggering 17 games over 90 pts (including the first 12 matches in a row). With a highest score of 145, EBERT was a steal at his starting price of $344,400. Will only get better as he gets some more midfield support.
Worst Buy : John BUTCHER - 8 matches, 379 points @ 47 Decreased $48,300
What a disappointing year 2012 was BUTCHER. On the verge of selection in a few teams (including mine!) after a strong showing towards the end of 2011, BUTCHER had a nightmare run this season, succumbing to hamstring and hip injuries and struggling even when he was fit. His average dropped almost 20 pts per game from 2011, when most thought it would increase significantly. Ouch.
2013 Prospects
Jarrad REDDEN - Another popular bench ruckman in a lot of SC teams, REDDEN didn’t quite scale the heights many hoped for, playing only 9 games with an average of 69. He did rise $206,300 though, and with the No.1 ruck spot at Port still up in the air, could be one to watch in 2013.
Robbie GRAY - A real classy player, GRAY was cruelly cut down in round 2 with a sickening knee injury that ended his season. As a result he should be nicely priced when the 2013 season comes around, and – as his 2011 average of 90 shows – he should definitely be on your radar.
