Best First Year Player : Steven MORRIS - 21 matches, 1377 points @ 65. Increased $227,200
One of the big dilemmas at the start of the 2012 SC season was which rookie Tiger to select – MORRIS or ELLIS.

One of the big dilemmas at the start of the 2012 SC season was which rookie Tiger to select – MORRIS or ELLIS.
Both performed okay, but MORRIS just gets the nod as a valuable defender. Hard at the contest, MORRIS played 21 matches and averaged 65, with a top score of 98. Not scintillating, but good enough for a rookie.
Most Improved Player : Ivan MARIC - 21 matches, 2382 @ 113. Increased $196,000
Was there any doubt? The ‘Mullet’ was one of the cult figures down at Punt Rd this year, and no wonder. Coming across from the Crows, MARIC was a star in 2012, averaging a staggering 113 pts per game, including 15 games over 100. Finishing second overall for pts scored by a ruckman, MARIC’s best scores read 137, 146, 146, 159 and 149. WOW. His SC average nearly doubled, from 69 in 2011 to 113 in 2012. What a revelation.
Best Buy : Trent COTCHIN - 22 matches, 2558 points @ 116 Increased $57,800
Already held in high regard in footy circles, COTCHIN stepped into the elite bracket in 2012 both in reality and in Supercoach terms. Playing every match, he averaged 116 pts a game, with a highest score of 175. Equally impressive was that he only had 3 games under 100 pts, and two of those were 98 and 99. This was a great season from a classy footballer who should be on everyone’s shopping list in 2013.
Worst Buy : Chris NEWMAN - 22 matches, 1694 points @ 77 Decreased $181,600
Once a staple of any fantasy backline, Tigers captain NEWMAN showed some real signs of slowing down in 2012. Starting at the elite price of $536,000, he dropped drastically almost $200,000, finishing with an average of only 77 pts per game despite playing every match. With previous averages in the 90s in 2009, 2010 and 2011, this was a disappointing fantasy year from the defender. Look elsewhere in 2013.
2013 Prospects
Brandon ELLIS - One to watch again in 2013, ELLIS showed signs of his classy skills throughout 2012, playing every game in his rookie year and averaging 56 pts per game. With more experience should come more flair and consistency, and most importantly more possessions.
Dylan GRIMES - Despite only playing 9 games in 2012, GRIMES is held in high esteem at Tigerland and is definitely one to watch if he can stay on the field. Seemingly injury-prone, GRIMES averaged a respectable 78 pts this year, with tops of 109 and 115. This guy can play.
