Nice to see The Saints play some new blood in 2012, and heading that exciting bunch was livewire SAAD. Skilled, speedy and very clever, SAAD was dynamic up forward, kicking 28 goals and having a top SC score of 105 against

eventual premiers Sydney. Under the tutelage of the best-in-the-business in Stephen MILNE, SAAD showed enough this year to indicate he could be a real find in the future.
Most Improved Player : Sean DEMPSTER - 22 matches, 1905 points @ 86 Increased $100,500
Capping off a wonderful season with All-Australian honours, DEMPSTER flourished under new coach Scott WATTERS. The always dependable backman added some attacking style to his game, his intercept marking a highlight. With a top score of 131 and solid matches between 85 and 100 a regularity, DEMPSTERS average rose from 63 in 2011 to 86 in 2012. Nice.
Best Buy : Lenny HAYES - 22 matches, 2251 points @102 Increased $26,700
One of the most-loved players in the game, Lenny was a great option in 2012. Despite concerns that he might struggle coming back from his knee reco at his age, has anyone ever come back better? 11 games over 100 pts, a top score of 143, and an average that matched his 103 in 2010. Although he tired a bit toward the end of the season, HAYES only built on his huge reputation this year.
Worst Buy : Nick Dal SANTO - 22 matches, 2240 points @ 102 Decreased $173,500
In a close finish between DAL and Sam FISHER, the midfielder takes it just. After a sparkling 2011 where he averaged 119 points per game, DAL was priced at the super-elite level in 2012, but failed to deliver to that expectation, finishing with an average of 102, dropping $173,000 in value. 9 games under 100 from an elite midfielder is not good enough. Strangely, might be a slightly cheaper option to consider in 2013.
2013 Prospects
Rhys STANLEY - Considered to have potential to burn with the rare combination of height and pace, STANLEY has struggled to stay on the field and 2012 was no exception. His 12 matches, netted and average of 65 pts, but more importantly he showed glimpses of self-belief. Could be anything.
Arryn SIPOSS - Another with talent to burn, SIPOSS ‘s kicking skills are a joy to watch but at times he appears lazy and lacks intensity. His 11 matches netted a 60 pt average, and WATTERS seemed to reward him a bit more. Could be one to excel in 2013.
