Best First Year Player : Harry CUNNINGHAM - 1 match, 5 points @ 5. Nil Increase or decrease
It’s not difficult to be the best first year player when you are the only first year player at the Club for the year! The eventual Premiers were a very settled and experienced lineup in 2012, and first year players just didn’t get a look in.

Is CUNNINGHAM any good? Who knows. Maybe 2013 might show us a bit more.
Most Improved Player : Lewis JETTA - 22 matches, 1757 points @ 80 Increased $81,000
Is there a more exciting player in the AFL? 2012 will no doubt be seen as JETTA’s breakout year, in 7% of SC teams and having 6 games over 90 with a top score of 126. JETTA played every game, nearly doubling his 2010 and 2011 averages of 50 and 43 respectively to come out with a nice average of 80. Super fast, skilled, and smart. What a career to look forward to.
Best Buy : Josh KENNEDY - 22 matches, 2644 points @ 120 Decreased $14,700
The engine room of the Premiership-winning midfield, KENNEDY was an absolute SC gun in 2012. Third for the league in total points, averaged 120 per game, only 4 games under 100 with a lowest score of 86 and highest of 163 and 173 (against quality opponents Collingwood and Hawthorn), started the season with 137 and 139…and the list goes on. Simply a must have in 2013.
Worst Buy : Gary ROHAN - 4 matches, 198 points @ 49.5 Decreased $18,800
Predicted by many to have a ripper year in 2012, ROHAN was cruelly cut down after just four games with a horrific broken ankle that sidelined him for the entire season. Through no fault of his own he becomes the Worst Buy for the Swans, due mainly to the wasted trade you needed to replace him. Another one to keep an eye on in 2013 though – should be nice and cheap.
2013 Prospects
Tom MITCHELL - On just about everyone’s SC radar leading into the 2012 season, talented youngster MITCHELL struggled with injury and form and never got a chance this year. Can he break into the Premiership-winning lineup in 2013? Watch this space.
Mike PYKE - What a season from the big Canadian rugby convert, who finally looked at home on the footy field. With 3 hundreds for the year, he increased his average from 48 in 2011 to 76 in 2012. With Mumford injury and report-prone, could PYKE be the value ruck choice in 2013?
