Greg Broughton
2012 games: 15
2012 average: 82.6
2013 club: Gold Coast
If you've already read the Fremantle Season Review, you'll know that Broughton was rated the worst buy of the season.
The reason lies principally for the fact that his role changed throughout the year, and the $502,100 that coaches invested at the start of the year in him came back largely unrewarded.
In saying that, he still managed six triple-figure scores, but his season ended early at round 16, with a surgery required on a bad finger.
2012 was Broughton's first disappointing year, because if you recall, as a rookie in 2009 he averaged 98.7. Each year from then he's averaged over 90 and could be considered a premium.
Given a senior role at Gold Coast, and a slightly cheaper price this year, expect Broughton to be very popular in Feburary / March next year. He burnt me big time this year, but I'll probably fall into the Broughton trap next year too.
What about you? Are you going to splurge on Broughton again in 2013? Comment below!
