Defence:
Edwards should be pretty reasonably priced given he has played so little in his career. He played two matches last year and 10 matches in his first year (2012) and averaged 13 disposals playing off half-back. He's nicely sized at 190cms, and with his third pre-season under his belt, should be ripe for AFL footy. I'm hoping the Dons give him a go, he's been compared to the Crows' Andrew McLeod - a nice rap to have. NAB cup will of course, be crucial.
Ruck
This is certainly a long shot - but Derickx will be as cheap as they come as he's played just twice in three years. As shown last year, the Swans love to play two ruckmen, at least. At times they had all the big men: Pyke, Mumford, Tippett & White all playing. With plenty of departures in October though, their ruck stocks are seriously thin. Other than some new draftees, big Tom is the only mature ruckman on their list, excluding Tippett and Pyke. A Ruck4 option for sure.
Midfield
Dom Tyson - GWS to MELB (age 20)
Aidan Riley - ADEL to MELB (age 22)
Three Demon cheapies. Under Roos - there will be plenty of opportunities for these kids. Everyone gets a fresh start, so whoever has the best pre-season will slot in beside Cross, Vince, Jones, Trengove etc.
Riley has been an impressive clearance player in the past, and also a very proficient tackler. He might get a tagging job, but depending on his price, it might be enough.
Michie dominated pre-season last year, but could only crack into the strong Fremantle side once. He's now 22 and needs to step up; otherwise he could be out of time at AFL level.
We all know the story on Dom - he'll be 20 at round one and has already had to overcome a serious knee injury. But as a former number three pick he's got undisputed talent. If anyone can bring out his best it's going to be Paul Roos - I'll be watching real closely.
Forward
Paine played six games in his debut season at Collingwood, and didn't play in the seniors at all the following year, which was 2013. He's a 194cm key forward, and has shown that he has excellent hands in the contest and excels at contested marking.
I'm not by any means suggesting Paine will dominate 2014, but Brisbane need to play young key position players like Paine in the wake of Jonathan Brown's inevitable retirement.
Also worth a mention:
Sam Darley - GWS to WB (age 21)
Sam Docherty - BRIS to CAR (age 20)
Heath Shaw - COLL to GWS (age 28)
