Will he finally realise his full potential with a permanent role in the middle?
David Noble of the Crows said this about Dangerfield: "Paddy’s midfield work
WHY?
A number 10 draft pick from 2007, Dangerfield has also had big wraps on him from the start. Slowly his SC credentials have risen, and in 2011 he averaged a career high 80 points a match.
Dangerfield has been ear-marked for a more midfield role this year, an opportunity that could finally see him average close to or over 100 points per game. In fact, in his full match NAB Cup hit-outs thus far, Dangerfield has been amongst Adelaide's best both times. Against Brisbane he dominated, racking up 33 possessions, eight marks and three tackles, and against the Magpies he gathered 23 touches and six tackles.
WHY NOT?
Consistency has been Dangerfield's problem in his four AFL seasons. Despite his solid average last year, he scored over 100 only four times and under 70 eight times.
With the talent that exists in Adelaide's midfield, grabbing a spot in there might be difficult at times in 2012. van Berlo, Sloane, Vince, Thompson can all seriously play; only lock in Dangerfield if he is guaranteed midfield time.
Schon's Good Buy Rating: Can he live up to the hype? His start to 2012 has been insanely good, I can't see why not. Add to the above his DPP eligibility, and it makes him a very tempting option. If he can line up three excellent matches in a row in next week's NAB granny - lock him in.
