This week I have attempted to bring you 3 players who aren’t common names in SuperCoach circles. PODs are generally not mentioned much in SuperCoach circles as it is, but I hunted down some players who are basically overlooked, which is shown by the amount of teams they are in. I’ve had to stick with two midfielders this week, but I have thrown in a backman who’s popularity has increased in the past few weeks as he has hit some form. Remember that these guys may not be right for you, particularly the two mids, but I will give valid reasons why you could include them in your squad. I have plenty more PODs and other SuperCoach advice to share, so feel free to hit me up on Twitter at @AaronSCAdvice or drop a comment below.... Enjoy.
Brad Ebert (PTA) - Midfielder
Price: $531,000 (b/e +86)
Selected In: 0.82%
Games: 14 Average: 99.64
3 Round Projection: 116pt average
Ebert is only selected in just over 2,500 teams, which I would put down somewhat to his SuperCoach scoring past and his early season form. Obviously a lot of points can be found in the midfield so we need quality scores, which Ebert just was not bringing early in the year; perhaps if he was a backman or defender he may have attracted more interest early on. He is peaking at the right time however, and with Watson copping an injury and trades becoming thin, he could be the man for you. He has averaged 115 in the last 5 games and an impressive 119 in his last 3 games. He is projected to average 114 for the rest of the year and at 531k he fits in perfectly if you want a straight swap from Watson or you are trying to finish of your mids and are thin for cash and trades. Since moving to Port he has averaged 100 in 2012 and 99.6 in 2013 (so far) which looks likely to rise.
Scott D Thompson (NTH) - Defender
Price: $485,300 (b/e +54)
Selected In: 3.54%
Games: 14 Average: 98.57
3 Round Projection: 110pt average
Scott Thompson has attracted plenty of interest from SuperCoaches in the past few weeks, particularly since hitting a purple patch of form. He has averaged 107pts over the last 5 games, including a 66 which is one downside to him; if his low scores sat around 80 then he becomes a must get!! Nonetheless he is in some great form and has shown capabilities to go huge, with a 164 earlier in the year as well as a 124 and 119 in the last 2 rounds. His projected scores for the rest of the season sit between 98-113, which to be honest I would certainly take in my backline as it is more consistent than some of the popular backline premiums. Waters is out this week and Thompson provides a perfect replacement if you have the spare cash.
Dion Prestia (GCS) - Midfielder
Price: $503,600 (b/e +90)
Selected In: 0.33%
Games: 13 Average: 97.15
3 Round Projection: 103pt average
Dion Prestia has undoubted talent, but if you weren’t aware who he was in the past then I am sure you became fully aware during round 14 when he scored 151 SuperCoach points against Adelaide, after collecting 42 disposals (24 kicks), 7 marks, 4 tackles and 2 goals. If you’re looking for a midfielder there are more consistent players out there, but for his price he could be a great buy. Recently he had a purple patch where he produced 5 tons in a row, a 67, the massive 151 and then 68. The real downside is that both of those low scores were something you don’t want in your side, I’d love if they were 80-85 rather than sub 70. His projections for the remainder of the year are 100-110 (except for a 99) but think of the upside if he gets them every week and chips in a big score somewhere in the middle.
