Hey SuperCoaches,
We are the nearing the end of the SuperCoach season and I hope your team is shaping up nicely. Some of you may have a lot of trades left and are looking finalise your team and some may be needing to use the last trade or two, with minimal cash as injuries and form slumps hit.

As far as my team goes, I am quite happy at this stage but it won’t take much for it to all fall apart. I consider myself a decent SuperCoach coach and the beginning of this year was horrid. Not only did I make a poor choice choosing Arryn Siposs to have a breakout year, I also had injuries hit; Varcoe, Kreuzer, Pavlich just to name a couple. I also got Paul Chapman in during a week when he didn’t play and Dale Thomas came in for one week before doing the long term injury. Despite all of this, I have managed to sort out a half decent team although I now only have 2 trades left. My forward line all average over 100 and my midfield is great with a few PODs in there. Backline is so-so but is winning me games. My big issues are Jacobs and Hartlett, who I am hoping can just keep on keeping on and avoid horrid sub 80 scores. NicNat is my other issue and I am just reserving my last two trades centred around him – although I have Nichols as cover and I am quite happy for him to step up to starting ruck.
Anyway, enough of my story, whether you’re in the same position as me and are one or two injuries away from catastrophe or you have one of the best teams in the comp, hopefully my POD selections will give you that edge for the rest of season and finals.

Corey Enright (GEE) - Defender
Price: $479,900 (b/e +67)
Selected In: 5.97%
Games: 15 Average: 94.27
3 Round Projection: 101pt average
I felt a real need to include a defender this week, especially with Pearce Hanley’s injury, Brett Goodes’ injury and Bryce Gibbs being horribly out of form. Enright has been a reliable defender over the course of his career, not just in SuperCoach terms but in general AFL terms. In his SuperCoach history he has never averaged below 90 and has scored 97-98 at his SuperCoach peak. This year he started off slowly; 85, 87, 81, 76 & 88. Not terrible scores individually, but an average of 83 over a 5 week period is not want you want some from someone that you may have locked in for 93-97+ for the year. I am going to assume that a lot jumped off him at that point, which they may have regretted as he has averaged 99.7 since that point. In the past 10 rounds he has only dropped below 100 four times, for an 83, 84, 87 & 97. He has also produced his two highest scores of 115 & 116 in the past two weeks. The time is right to jump on Enright and is only 17k dearer than Hanley and 41k dearer than Goodes. Find the cash (hopefully already on your salary) and jump on board.
Jack Steven (STK) - Midfielder
Price: $548,400 (b/e +52)
Selected In: 1.64%
Games: 16 Average: 107.25
3 Round Projection: 114pt average
Jack Steven is a personal favourite of mine. Not only is he a St.Kilda player, but I have his #3 proudly on the back of my jumper. I still remember at the time, I had decided instead of going with a veteran on my jumper, I would pick a young kid who I thought had a great future at the club. He has only just passed 50 career games but is starting to show why I picked him and that he has the qualities of a 150-200+ game AFL player. He had an inconsistent start to the SuperCoach season but as he has developed and become a more experienced player, his SuperCoach scores have shown some consistency. His numbers for 2013 are as follows: 89, 78, 123, 99, 78, 78, 150, 100, 133, 107, 89, 99, 99, 106, 127, 161… Make of this what you will, but since his 150 SuperCoach points and career high 39 disposals against Carlton, he has shown he has SuperCoach premium qualities. The 89 and two 99s are a little disappointing but then I find myself drawn to his x-factor scores of 120s and the massive 133, 150 & 161. I tried to keep bias out of this, but his 10 round average of 117 per round stood out to me, particularly after improving that from 90 in the first 6 rounds.
