We have arrived at the first week of SuperCoach finals after a long season! Hopefully you're travelling ok overall and if not, hopefully you're sitting in a good spot in your leagues. I am sitting top four in three leagues but I missed finals (just) in two other leagues. One more win in each of those leagues throughout the year would've seen me make finals. What really hurt me was two weeks ago when I traded Sandilands to Goldstein and gained 131 points on both opponents, but both had Hanley and Rockliff who helped them get wins that round. So essentially I wasted a trade that didn't help improve my situation at all. I am down to one trade and have Hibberd to trade out. I am hoping lots goes my way over the next four rounds.
This weeks #PlayerWithPODential is:
Steele Sidebottom
- The first obvious upside to Sidebottom is that he is in a purple patch. There was a period in the middle of the year where he was below 100 for two games, but since then he scored 115, 101, 178, 84, 114, 109 and 130.
- He's taken his SuperCoach game to another level this year. In 2012 he averaged 106 and last year he averaged 103. This year his average sits at 111, as of late, but it has been over 105 for the majority of the season.
- His projected scores for the next three rounds are 124, 139 and 123; an average of 129.
CONS:
- While he is a matchwinner, he's had five scores that are 90 or below. Two of them came in Round 1 and 2 (73 & 68), while the 90, 72 and 84 have been spread out through the season.
- Collingwood play Hawthorn in Round 23; the SuperCoach Grand Final. This wouldn't mean too much to many people other than that Hawthorn are a good side. However, Sidebottom has played them seven times with an average of 83 and he is only projected to score 105. He has not faced them in 2014 though.
