Season 2012 has not been a pleasant one so far for a number of SC teams, with injuries and last minute withdrawals leaving many sides with doughnuts – very frustrating indeed. If you have lost some more players this week, feast on the info below as we try and provide solutions to your SC problems.
Adam GOODES (Sydney. Value - $552,700. Av 105. Quad injury – out 4 to 6 weeks)
This is a massive blow to the Swans, as well as to the 29% of SC teams who have GOODESY in their line up as either a forward or a midfielder. One of the keys to the Sydney team, GOODES has been in impressive form in 2012, and the challenge for everyone (the Swans included) will be to try and find and adequate replacement. He has dropped $33,000 for the year in SC terms, but there are still plenty of juicy options to take his place.
Possibilities : As a Midfielder
Trent COTCHIN (Rich) - $543,500 Av 109
Sam MITCHELL (Haw) - $536,900 Av 109.5 My Choice – Ball Magnet
Nick Dal SANTO (St.K) - $536,500 Av 104
Rory SLOANE (Adel) - $528,400 Av 110
As a Forward
Jarryd ROUGHEAD (Haw) - $520,300 Av 103
Jordan LEWIS (Haw) - $514,000 Av 102
Steele SIDEBOTTOM (Coll) - $513,800 Av 105
Patrick DANGERFIELD (Adel) - $505,600 Av 106 My Choice–Favourable Draw
Sam FISHER (St. Kilda. Value - $463,900. Av 88. Hamstring injury – out 3 to 4 weeks)
The backline curse continues, with another consistent scorer in FISHER going down with a soft-tissue injury that leaves the Saints backline under huge pressure. FISHER is the quarterback for the Saints, and his unfortunate loss may force them to recall James GWILT, returning from a knee injury. If you can keep FISHER do so, but a month is a long time in footy. If I was one of the 7% of SC teams who have him, I’d be moving him on.
Possibilities : Paul DUFFIELD (Freo) - $455,900 Av 88
Robert MURPHY (Bull) - $452,000 Av 88
Beau WATERS (WCE) - $447,900 Av 94 My Choice – Tough as Nails
Brent GUERRA (Haw) - $493,700 Av 92
Michael JOHNSON (Freo) - $436,900 Av 93
Ben McEVOY (St.Kilda. Value - $490,300. Av 94. Knee injury – out 4 to 6 weeks)
In a double whammy for the Saints, their only recognized ruckman in McEVOY was withdrawn prior to the start of the match with a knee injury that will keep him out of action for at least a month. That will really hurt the Saints, and it will really hurt the 3% of SC teams who have him too, especially given the unpredictable nature of a lot of ruckmen this season. Down $58,500 for the year, fortunately there are still some premium options to take as replacements for Big Ben.
Possibilities : Will MINSON (Bull) - $487,300 Av 96
Sam JACOBS (Adel) - $481,300 Av 96 My Choice – Quality Selection
Ivan “Mullet” MARIC (Rich) - $451,900 Av 99
Tom BELLCHAMBERS (Ess) - $421,900 Av 96
Matthew KREUZER (Carl) - $396,500 Av 87
Nathan BOCK (Gold Coast. Value - $425,000. Av 62. Broken leg – out for the season)
GC defender BOCK must’ve walked under a ladder in the preseason this year, as his 2012 has been an absolute nightmare. After missing the first couple of games with suspension, now he has broken his leg in another sickening incident that seemed fairly innocuous at first glance. Fortunately he is only owned by 2% of SC teams, however if you are one of those then there is no choice – he has to go.
Possibilities - James FRAWLEY (Melb) - $415,900 Av 85
Shaun BURGOYNE (Haw) - $409,100 Av 80
Jack GRIMES (Melb) - $400,900 Av 84 My Choice – Can Score Big
Nick MALCESKI (Syd) - $394,300 Av 82
Sean DEMPSTER (St.K) - $391,000 Av 82
Hopefully our injuries concerns might be alleviated a little this week with the outside-chance that Gazza could return – of course, for many that brings up another trade dilemma over whether you bring him back or not? Do you trade the player you brought in for him straight back out, or do you try and get him in some other way? Do you wait a week, hoping the Little Champ’s price drops a bit? Questions, questions questions…one thing I do know, it takes a brave coach to enter a match without him in their lineup.
