Has there ever been one single round where serious injuries have potentially impacted on SC teams as badly as last weekend? With some last minute withdrawals on top of that (Mumford, Fyfe, Birchall) round 4 was a nightmare for many teams, and has led to some serious re-thinking for this weekend. Trades are already lining up, and the following 6 players are all in the gun – and they don’t come any bigger than SC Superstar, Gary Ablett Jnr.
Well, we have been waiting for it – and now it starts. The inevitable injuries and suspensions have begun in earnest, and suddenly teams are starting to feel the pinch already – and it’s only round 4!. With significant injuries to a number of players, picking the right replacement becomes vitally important. At the same time, if you have some coverage don’t be afraid to hold back – as I always say, trades are the most precious commodity in this game and the more you have in the second half of the season, the better shape you will be in.
Round two in the box and with round 3 almost upon us, the SC league games begin in earnest. Whilst there hasn’t been too many huge names injured or suspended in the first two weeks (and poor form not coming into the equation just yet), there are still a few relatively long-term injuries sneaking under the radar to players who might have made your squad. Your team needs to be in tip-top shape this weekend – hopefully we can help make that happen.
Simon BLACK (Brisbane - Value $507,600. Av 118. Broken hand – out 4 weeks) In only 1.15% of teams, the old-timer of the Brisbane midfield - silky smooth Simon BLACK - has been in some strong early form with the Lions, averaging 118 pts in the first two matches Welcome back to Trade Winds for season 2012. Well, what a round one that was – an absolute belter. Fortunately, in terms of SC squads, there were no major injuries to any superstars of the game, which is how we like it. However, there were a few fringe players who will be missing for a few weeks, which may have an impact on your team selection. Is round two too early to trade? Normally yes, but if you are looking to win the car…then maybe not.
