change rooms looking battered and bruised from a loose Tyrone Vickery elbow and his
side was trailing the Tigers by 35 points – it wasn’t looking good. However,
over the next hour the Roos destroyed Richmond to record a great victory and
over the next 24 hours his SuperCoach side would be crowned the overall weekly winner.
It’s a funny game.
Firrito’s side, Woogie Simmonds, scored 2,624 in a fantastic display. As for the top scorers of round 12, Jarryd Roughead was ominous against the Eagles delivering 8 goals in amongst 24 disposals to register 184 SC points. Firrito’s teammate, Todd Goldstein also hit back to some of his best form with 166 points, fellow ruckman Aaron Sandilands (154) was dominant while Bryce Gibbs (153) played his best game for the Blues to date.
Here are my captaincy selections for round 13!
Nat Fyfe
The “clanger king” is only averaging three clangers a match in 2014 while his well
known contested ball is at its usual high standard averaging 15 a match. Fyfe is
consequently averaging 114 SC points a match and will be one of the prime
movers tomorrow at the MCG against Richmond.
Steve Johnson
Johnson has been starved of form lately but he is back to his home ground at Kardinia
Park, a venue he has made a SuperCoach points haven in recent years. The Saints
look to be the easy kill Johnson desires and we know how he can beat up on the
lowly ranked sides.
Shane Mumford
Mumford has reeled off two tons and looks back to his early season form. The Lions have
no Leuenberger, no West – the mantle now falls to Stefan Martin. If you held
onto Mummy he would be a great POD option.
Josh Kennedy
JPK is back to his 2012 form and is currently one of the top midfielders in the
competition. He is yet to drop under 90 and has delivered century’s in every
round since the season opener.
Ablett vs Pendlebury
Ablett
Past 5 vs West Coast – 100, 87, 154, 176, 121
Ablett was back to his stellar form last week with a big ton. With no Scott Selwood, is
there anyone who can attempt to blanket the little Master, the short answer is
no. Lock him in.
Pendlebury
Past 5 vs Western Bulldogs – 145, 145, 103, 146, 145
Pendlebury has an impeccable record against the Dogs and should
be strongly considered on Sunday, if Gaz doesn’t top 140 I’d be tempted to risk
a reasonable VC score and roll the dice on the Collingwood skipper.
