will plummet this week, providing he doesn’t go crazy as he has done once or
twice against the Swans – 254 in 2008! Otherwise here are some other falling
premiums that could be on the menu in weeks to come, Ryan Griffin, Leigh
Montagna, Andrew Swallow, Chad Wingard and Jarryd Roughead. All handy players
and if you have the luxury of cash cows and trades they could even be bench
cover for the deadly “general soreness” later in the season.
As for last week’s top scorers, Tom Rockliff was outstanding against the Blues with 182 SC
points; Travis Cloke (164) was back to some top form, despite it being against
the Saints. Marc Murphy (156) was fantastic at the Gabba while Ben Howlett (150)
was unlucky to not receive the Dream Time medal and Tex Walker (146) was back in town for the Crows
Here are my captaincy selections for round 12!
Marc Murphy
Murphy was instrumental last week and the Blues clear best player, as he has been for
much of the season. He dominated the Lions last week with 38 disposals, six
tackles and a goal equating to 156 SC points, his third 140+ score for 2014.
Geelong do not apply a hard tag, if they opt to set Guthrie free and play one on
one, Murphy will again find plenty of the leather.
Dane Swan
Swanny is back and since bottoming out in price he has been a frustration reeling off
three sub-100 score in his last three matches. How daring are you? He thrives
on the big occasion and is a huge POD, while his numbers are extraordinary
against the Dees. Swan’s past three matches have returned possession counts of
39, 42 and 38 along with SC scores of 148, 160 and 173 – one to
consider.
Tom Rockliff
Another player who was enormous last week, Rockliff posted 182 SC points off the back
of a massive last quarter that saw him score 93 points. Last time he met the
Dogs he scored 153 and should be considered this week as your VC or even C
given his brilliant vein of form.
Brent Harvey
If you jumped on Harvey at 485K, nicely done. He has pumped out 179 and 120 in the
Roos victories while scoring 98 in a tough match at Simonds Stadium. Boomer is
in fine form, quite a contrast to the 22 Tigers he meets Sunday night, he is a
unique skipper option prior to many “safe bet” Pies on Monday.
Ablett vs Pendlebury
Ablett
Past 5 vs Sydney– 99, 171, 19 (injured), 203, 164
A quiet couple of weeks in terms of Ablett’s lofty standards, in particular his
disposal count which has dropped off. But as always he is every chance to pump
out a mammoth score, if there is any doubt, the Pies play on Monday and the VC
could be placed on the little master.
Pendlebury
Past 5 vs Melbourne – 132, 129, 123, 122, 108
Such a consistent performer, as shown in his past five against Melbourne. The Dees are
travelling well but the possibility of some big Pies numbers is still a huge
chance, which Pie to pick? Swan could go big, Beams is in hot form, however
Pendlebury covers both those categories also and will never let you
down.
Who will be your captain this week?
