were a bit of a mixed bag but overall no major causalities. Brett Goodes, Nick
Vlastuin, Marc Murphy, David Mundy and Michael Barlow are all back in while Kyle
Martin, Sam Docherty, Nick Riewoldt and Paul Duffield will be missing this week
and no doubt hurt some sides. With five weeks left until our league finals, we
are heading toward the business end of the season. It’s
time to trade hard and look to field a team of premiums in the coming
weeks.
As for the top scorers of round 14. Tom Liberatore is having a break
out year and produced a huge score of 163 against the Dees on the weekend. He
racked up 36 touches, nine tackles, 12 clearances and 11 inside 50’s – brilliant
numbers. Tyrone Vickery (152) may just be finding his best form; Dion Prestia
(151) outshone his captain. While Ryan Griffen and Patty Dangerfield continue to
pump out massive scores regardless of their sides performance, scoring 148 and
141 respectively.
Here are my captaincy choices for round 15.
In what will be a free flowing game under the roof at Etihad Stadium on
Saturday afternoon, Boomer Harvey thrives in these conditions and has been
unstoppable against the Tiges. In his past five matches against them he has
averaged 128 SC points, including a 165 in 2011. I expect North Melbourne to
finally stand up against a top side and Harvey to lead the way.
Joel Selwood
While Selwood was blanketed by Ryan Crowley last week, he had produced
two 130+ matches prior to falling victim to the best tagger in the business. The
Geelong skipper loves playing the Hawks and relishes the big stage of the MCG in
front of 80,000. With an average of 122 in his last four encounters with the
Hawks, Selwood is a tempting option.
Dane Swan
Why play this man forward? He is one of the elite midfielders in the
competition, a guy who kicks goals while playing through the middle anyway. In
the two matches that were most obvious he played permanent forward were against
Sydney and of course Port Adelaide on the weekend, he didn’t register a goal in
either – baffling. Nathan Buckley will surely do his side and all Swan
SuperCoach owners a favour and play him where he belongs. If this is the case,
Swan destroys the Blues and is a lock for vice-captain at the very
least.
Josh Kennedy
It has been a un-Kennedy like three weeks with no scores over 110, we
all know what he is capable of and this weekend’s match may be exactly what he
needs. Melbourne has simply leaked points all year and could be the perfect
springboard for the back-half of Kennedy’s season. An element of risk but I
wouldn’t put it past him to pump out a 150+ performance.
Will Minson
Minson is in All-Australian form at the moment and has been a
SuperCoach revelation. Averaging 113 without a sub-80 score is what every coach
is looking for from their premiums. The lowly Giants will have no answer for the
“big Minno” who will give the likes of Griffen and Liberatore an armchair ride
through the midfield on his way to another big score.
Ablett watch
As always lock in the little master, the Suns play the twilight match
on Saturday so he may be a viable vice-captain option. Whatever the choice, he
won’t let you down.
